    Oil pressure sensor connector question

Oil pressure sensor connector near TB broke during my motor swap. Had to build a new wire since the factory harness is NLA and in doing so noticed the new 1 pin connector will not fit into the mating connector on the harness side. I used the same exact connector part# as what came off the car but noticed the locking tab on the new connector does not lock into the old female plug. So the connectors are mated, but not locked in. Anyone run into this problem? I have a picture of the old connector as reference below but didn't think to take a picture of the new one last night. Will post that later.

Perhaps someone could shoot me a part number of their connector part numbers to make sure I'm on the right track?

    Thanks in advance.

    Oil pressure sensor connector question

I used this part number 1J0973802 when I was replacing my lower connector near the throttle body.

The locking tab is kinda funky on them. You do not push up or down to lock like you’d think. You have to push it towards the center* of connector and then you’ll see how they lock…horrible design IMO.

Once you set the lock they will click into place. If you can’t figure it out and need pics lmk and I’ll take some.

FWIW: I do make oil psi sub harnesses with new OE connectors, Tefzel wire, and DR25. Shoot me a Dm if interested.

Thanks for the tip. I'm going to post a picture of mine later today. Not sure why I'm having a problem when I ordered the exact part #'s on the broken connector. Should have been a simple swap.

It should be a simple swap and connector will click into other connector once the lock is set.

Okay, same connector I used. Only thing I can think of is the pink lock is set to open which would block it's ability to have a clean connection. Besides that, only thing I can think of is im mating it to the wrong female connector. I will check and report back.

Thanks for this. I'm 99% I locked the pin/wire in. Unless I accidentally unlocked it but the wire won't go in when it's locked so... who knows.

I’m 99% sure it’s not fully locked. Lol.
Could be half locked so it won’t allow you to insert terminals yet not fully seated so it won’t mate….like I said design sucks.

Also the first mating cycle can be weird sometimes but after that one, it’s good to go. I use a small flat head or pick and push the lock as much as I can towards the center of connector, then push both connectors together at like an angle to get them to mate. When you take a good look at both you can see where they would hit and how you wanna angle/push on them for first mating cycle. They are definitely finicky but after you get it you’ll be fine…you got this!

Small update... Im actually an idiot...but a prepared idiot. The mating connector wasn't locking because it was broken too.... and the best part is I ordered that connector awhile ago and completely forgot. All is good now haha. Thanks for all the tips.
