Hello all. I wanted to make a thread so I can dump all the stuff I do to my car, just in case some of you might be interested in what I've done.

The thread title has a "Build(?)" because I don't really plan on doing some crazy "Build" like normal people do. Yes I'm working on going Stage 2, but most of you have done that and probably dont care to see another build thread on that.

I like to focus on cosmetics. And my goal with my car is to add personal touches, while keeping the car looking as OEM as possible. That's why I really like to call this OEM+ Build Thread.

I love the color orange and I dipped my previous car orange!, and while I don't plan on doing that to the S4, adding little touches of orange is what I like to do.

So I will be making posts below with things that I've done to the car and I hope you enjoy and ask questions.

For my first entry I'm going to post whats probably going to be the most controversial of them all. Yes, I hand painted all the stitching in my car orange. All done by me.







I used a fabric marker on all the stitching in the car. The only stitching I didn't do was the steering wheel because the stitching is a bit dirty from heavy use (I bought my car used). And I got future plans for the steering wheel so I didn't try to really do anything to it.

This was a very manual job, but It looks really nice. And after a whole year it seems to be holding up well. I need to re-touch a few spots this spring but its nothing crazy.

The next thing I want to show you is the hand made orange "S" emblem inserts





I bought orange vinyl and I carved around the OEM red emblem insert, and that was the end of that. I'm sure I could have bought these somewhere but I'm a cheap bastard and I like working with my hands. I really love the way these came out.

For the last thing I'll post tonight, I installed an RS grille and I painted the QUATTRO letters orange.

Thanks so much. I really like to add personal touches so it stands out. It was at a Cars and Coffee someone used the term OEM+ to describe my car, and I really liked that.

With the white exterior, that orange stands out the best. I love the way it looks. To me, it makes a dull Oreo cookie look different, in a positive way. Looking forward to seeing what future mods, you create. Will definitely subscribe to your thread.

I think the orange stitching is fantastic, great job. I walked away from from a Solar Orange S4 in January of '20. Not happy with how that winter turned out.

It may not be for everyone, but the orange on the stitching looks great! It is extremely subtle and I like that look way better than the full magma interior, which is just too much for me. I’m with many others also in that OEM+ is way better. Part of the reason I like the S4 so much is due to the understated presentation.

And you are not strange for liking orange: I ride KTMs and even my MTB is orange. :)

Few weeks ago, with the help of forum member “Cw6mt mkvigli “, installed a CTS High Flow cat and flashed IE stage 2 93 file on the car. Insanely fun now.

Also did CTS trans Mount insert.

Next up is to paint my CTS Turbo Inlet orange.

Another update.

Added new steering wheel with orange center marker, orange stitching. Airbag cover with orange stitching as well. Also added Urus paddles and I painted the minus and plus signs orange. To finish it off I added a perforated shifter cover to match the new wheel.

I like it, I have the same inlet as you. What sort of paint did you use?

Random gloss orange can of paint from Home Depot. I hit it with a primer before hand.
