Hey guys, I thought I would share the news of my recent heartbreak. Last night I was side swiped and ran off the road by some idiot in the lane next to me not paying attention. The driver was uninsured, suspended license, in and unregistered car. The cops gave him a ton of court summons but ultimately said financially I’m the one who gets screwed, and he walks away w/ a $550 fine for driving without insurance. He was delivering food for uber/doordash to apartments on my right, probably looking at the gps and realized he was about to miss the turn. Didn’t look, turned right into me. Idk how he can deliver food for an app w/ no license/insurance/registration. Initial conversation with my insurance, they want to total it and give me around $5-$6k. Only good thing was that I had my stock wheels on for the winter still. IMG_4086.JPGIMG_4087.JPGImage1678195561.620421.jpgIMG_4085.JPGIMG_4093.jpgIMG_4082.jpgIMG_4077.jpgIMG_4078.jpgIMG_4079.jpg

Sorry to see. If you are to use your uninsured/underinsured part of your car insurance you will need to hire your own lawyer to sue your insurance company to gain access to the that money.
If you don't they will just string you along and do nothing.

thought uber /door dash was supposed to verify insurance/reg.... i would consult an attorney. Normally they wont charge you for a simple consult and you will at least be able to see if you can get the co to pay for fix. i would also pull up nada value on your car and take nothing less than good condition trade in value. the ins co will walk all over you if you dont stand up for yourself you dont have to accept their initial offer.

I hired a lawyer, they’re gonna try to find out exactly which app he was using and go after them. I also put my car at the shop who works on it, and told ins co I’m not authorizing them to take my car, and to send the appraiser to the shop and do it there. They’re doing it today so I’ll hopefully have a new number from them this afternoon
