    Potential Upgrades to C7 A6 ??

    Hey guys (and gals),

I've got at sage 2, single pulley 2018 A6 comp. Would swamping to a 93 dual pulley - supplemented with gallon or two of e85 or race fuel likely get me me under 12.0....? Or am I chasing a ghost?

It's currently a 2018 and by the end of next month will have a new interior and body will be 100%, including wheels and tires. Hence, it's a beauty

I could sell for high 30s and swaps to an s6 or S7. But, I'm thinking since this car has been nearly perfect, I may go Stage 2, dual, with supplemental APR cooling. Cost would be roughly $1800. It's already got a custom TCU and I feel I'm likely into the low 12s in legit quarter. In fact, with winter rubber, i'm activating traction control shifting at 85-90mph. So, it's got some balls!

    Thoughts, comments much appreciated.

I think that CREC engines can run full e85 on single pulley. What ECU tune do you have?

They also have issues with the supercharger clutch at dual pulley levels.

You should be into the 11's right now.

If you are buying the car to go fast, that isn't what it was designed for. The car itself can be made to run 11s. Do you actually want a faster car because you want to beat a number or is it that slow that you need a faster car? I'm loving my Stage 2 DP car. I don't have the room to unleash it. I am used to it, so it doesn't feel really fast, but it is apparent by when I do get aggressive with the go pedal because nobody is near me. Seriously, the only thing that has been near me making me feel like I wasn't moving out fast was a TrackHawk and that was most likely modified because I live 2 minutes away from a high performance Dodge shop. The guy was on drag radials.

The way that I see it is I could buy an older S6, but I wouldn't be happy unless I changed the turbos and then I'd be worried about the suspension breaking OR I'd buy a newer A6 and change the turbo. IE is destroying records with the 3.0 Turbo. The odd thing is the 2020 A6 and S6 where I live are only separated by $5000. If you stepped to a 2019 A6 the price drops dramatically by $25k.

How fast do you want to go, how much did you want to spend. How far apart did you want to take the engine. What S6 only features would you want.

Thanks for the reply. I've got APR stage 2, single pulley (SC pulley) and a Berk TCU tune. I haven't taken this car to the drag strip. I understand 0-60 "new/un-tuned" should be about 5.0 second and 1/4 mi should be about 13.0 seconds. That said, with an extra 100 ponies and higher, more agressive shift points, if feels much, much quicker than stock and is willing to drop a couple gears and get up and go when kicked!!

All great questions. And, I am embarrassed to admit, I don't have good answers. The power my car has now is fantastic, for a big, quiet comfortable car without rattles or maintenance issues. i hit the highway one day a week and am able to safely use the power the car has then, and only then.

When I pushed my old BMW 335 XI over 20PSI, I broke it. Hence, chasing power, comes with a cost (time and expense). This car, at stage 2/single pulley levels has been a dream in terms of up-keep. My wife's Q7 is stage 1 is going in for a new Water Pump next week at 80K plus miles. It hasn't had any other problems. We've done a bit more than basic maintenance (shorter OCI, earlier plugs, filters and SC belt and, of course, full brakes), but that's it. for a 5000lb luxury hauler, it's got some go, and has been super reliable for 6 years!!

Perhaps I should take all of that into consideration, and stick with what I know and what I know works!

Slightly different platform but after experiencing single and dual pulley in my old S4. I don't think the added risk of dual pulley is worth it. While dual pulley was definitely faster, especially in the mid range, I actually ran my fastest 1/4 mile on single pulley because heat soak was so prevalent on my dual pulley set up even with a larger heat exchanger.

Change title to C7.5. Next just so you know, APR hasn't updated tuning for this platform in years. Another company with more recent tech advances for this platform may be beneficial. Your Transmission tune is great but I think you're leaving something on the table going with APR.

STG2 DP with E and all supporting mods, you'll need cooling you can cut a sub 3 0-60 and be deep into the 11's. I was in my 2014 A6 :).
