RS6 ZF 8 Speed Transmission Software Upgrade??

Hello All,

Wanted to ask the community if there's any TCU software upgrade out there?

I did a back to back comparison with my friend's F90 M5 Competition, both cars share the same ZF 8 speed transmission but the BMW felt 10x more responsive/quicker.
Was much sharper and overall power delivery was a step up.

Odd that both cars that 'compete' with each other, share the same transmission but one company seems to utilize it much better?

IE stage 1 comes with separate options for both ECU and TCU tunes. I’m running both and very pleased with them.

I have unitronic stage 1 + and its amazing. Easy to flash at home with obdevelen cable. Nice torque and extra hp.

Can you share a brief review of the improvements in regards to the transmission?? Very significant difference in upshifts and downshifts?

Even though they share the "same" transmission from ZF, I don't believe they are identical mechanically and certainly not from a software perspective.
It makes sense that ZF would partner with BMW and Audi respectively to develop a bespoke transmission for each vehicle.
More information on each transmission would be useful as a software "tune" is likely not sufficient to make them equivalent.

I just made a move from a Cayenne GTS with a ZF automatic transmission and the difference is night and day with the RS6 being much smoother and quicker.

Its only ECU but it really makes the car more responsive. The upshifts and downshifts are quicker IMO. No more low end lag or delay in S or RS mode. You can feel the engine churning harder and louder. I don't even think a TCU is even needed

Yes very much more aggressive shifting and PDK like shifting when in S mode within Dynamic/RS.

It does a great job of staying in the powerband and some may not like this part, but it does slight burbles upon each downshift. No where near the annoying BMW/Infiniti stuff you hear from their tuned offerings but it’s most certainly a dramatic change in driving character.

The IE TCU tune also lowers the RPM slightly for launch given the significant raise in power/tq with the ECU tune.

Another perk of the ECU tune, is it raises the rev limit to 6k (no more 3500 factory limit), redline is raised to 7k instead of 6750rpm, and the auto start/stop now DEFAULTS to off when you fire up the car. No more having to annoyingly press the button which I love.
