    2022 SQ8 Tuning drama

    Hey everyone,
New to the Audi world, but not new to tuning and performance mods.
I picked up this late model 22 SQ8 a few days before Christmas and have been trying to tune it ever since.
I was told GoAPR was a great option. Took it to Freed Performance in GA and was told they could not crack my stock PCM and would send off an urgent ticket to APR. 2 months go by and I decided to call APR myself. I was told someone would call me back asap as the tune was in the final stages of QC. Of course, not a word from anyone at APR.

Called and messaged MTM many times and a week later I finally get an email back telling me I would need to drive the car to Miami Fl to see if it's eligible for a tune...Umm nope.
Finally I reach out to performancebyie.com and asked them specifically if my car could be tuned.
They had me send over the info from my OBD eleven and told me in writing my car was eligible, no issues.
Got the tuner today and there is no surprise, they don't have a stock tune for my car and no ETA.

What gives? Is this a common occurrence with Audi's? When I email HPtuners or EFI Live for my other cars I get responses back immediately. Seems like none of these companies really care about setting proper expectations. Sorry for the rant, but a simple "sorry, your car is not tunable" would have been appreciated vs. You are good to go then whoops, our mistake.
Just curious what others experiences are with these 3 companies, especially MTM " Just swing on down to Miami and we will check"

This is happening because a lot of car companies are moving to an updated Bosch ECU that is much harder to crack for aftermarket tuning. I know the 2022 B58 engines in the bmws took a while to crack and had to be sent to russia for a time to even get it unlocked. Other tuners are running into these issues where they can tune the ECU, but not the TCU. car companies are cracking down on modifying their ECU hard.

im surprised 034 doesn't have a tune for this platform but what about Integrated Engineering? They do great things for the 3.0l v6t community and they have a ecu tune available.

Those are the ones (performancebyie.com) and told me it was tunable based off my OBD Eleven dump to just tell me after I purchased it that it was not tunable with no ETA.

DME Tuning in Texas has been fantastic for me and a few others, worth a shot.

Yeah something isn't right. APR should have a file for the 4.0t EA825. Did you send them the box code for the ECU? Never heard of Freed Performance, are they even an authorized APR dealer? Call NGP they are the foremost experts on all things APR. Been dealing with them for 20+ years, they'll get you straight. https://www.ngpracing.com/ MTM is going through some changes it seems and are very hard to get ahold of, wouldn't even bother. Plus I don't believe they have a tune for the 4.0t, just a tune box like JB4 which is another option if all else fails. I have the JB4 in a box just need to find time to install it. I also believe unitronic has a tune for the EA825.

    Thank you,
Yes Freed performance is an auth dealer and they sent APR the info on my ECU. When I called ARP they were able to find the case # that they submitted and that's when I was told it was in the final stages of QC and that someone would call me back, a month later no joy :-(

I will reach out to NGPracing as well. I really appreciate the leads everyone.

For Grins I called Goarp again and was told that there were 6 vehicles in the queue with the same code extraction issue so it appears that its not in QC afterall, they are trying to extract the code.

Downpipes are in route from Russia now, put on the massive air filter already. Outside of a full exhaust what are the big goto mods on these cars?
I was looking for a catch can solution because of the oil consumption I have seen already and all I find are universal ones. I have always been leery of piggie back systems so I don't want to venture down that path.
    Thanks again everyone.

Your car will be fast as flip with downpipes and a stage 2 Unitronic tune but I'll just drop this right here if your looking for something ridiculous. https://www.ecstuning.com/b-the-turb...te10398.1~tte/
