Thread is aged like fine wine but not ancient… wanted to just drop another data point on here. TS1’s and trapping 133.x mph full weight s8 w/ extra 100 lbs in it. Dyno’d 738 whp on a mustang. Running E30-35.

It is not just the low pressure fuel pump, but also the injector duty cycle you run up against. Some of the difference here between what E content people are comfortable running is just how close they want to push it and how much slop they want to leave in for their ability to accurately blend at the pump. The ‘depends on the car’ is also as much depends on the duty cycle people limit themselves to and the weather. E.g. here we have a full 100 degree swing from hottest day in the summer to winter we occasionally see below 0F. In other areas that is only 60 or 70f.

Real compressor wheels (and thus the most correct maps) work on head (pressure ratio for a given gas) and volumetric flow, not mass flow… that is a simplification they put on the curves which includes some different assumptions. Point being when it gets that cold out the compressor wheel can move a boatload more mass flow, even more than you would think by looking at a compressor Map.

    Cheers

MEnginerdS8, are you running an OTS map or custom whilst trapping 133?

If OTS, assuming stage 3 with HPFP/LPFLs, is that accurate?

Custom. Yes I have lines and HPFP’s.

I only have a 60-130 data on OTS stg 3 last winter. 7.55 at -1188 DA. Was probably around E50 but may not have been on AMAX in TCU. I did more mods shortly after.

Closest comparison is 7.02 60-130 at 770 DA per track data. That was on custom map, E35, and I believe the only HW change was TS WG and 4 bar maps which don’t really even come into play. <100% WGDC (injector limited) <2 barg boost at peak power@7k rpm.

    Cheers

If one is planning to use a typical OTS Stage 3 tune; are their benefits of running a turbo larger than the RS7?
Rs7 +4 - would this be more efficient?
Ali Express rs7 +4 ball bearing?

I'm not planning on upgrading fuel in the near future if at all. Nor am I a track or drag warrior. Aim is to get more power as I am used to the stage 2.

    Priorities:
Reliability (At least a minimum of 3 years.)
    Cost effectiveness.

Since I'm not doing the labor myself and have other things to purchase, cost is paramount. I need a TCU tune, Turbo Inlets and the new stage 3 file from my tuner. (Once I get the turbo.)

Any feedback or opinions welcome, thanks in advance.

There is an old car modding adage. You can have it cheap, fast or reliable... pick 2.

Given that your desired mod covers fast... you need to pick one of these and forget the other. If you want reliability, I'd stay away from the AE turbos. I have a pair going on my car, but I do all my own work and have a spare car when they crap the bed.

AE's turbo selection seem to be hit or miss. Some are awesome... most are not. Can you afford it if you pick a "not"?

I have another adage that I try to live by whenever I'm faced with similar decisions as yours... Buy Once, Cry Once.

    Cheers,

    KS
