Cannot figure out P0087 Fuel Rail/System Pressure - Too Low

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So I have been dealing with code P0087 Fuel Rail/System Pressure - Too Low for awhile now and cannot seem to figure out why. Ive looked through the posts here and a lot lead to the auto tech piston in the hpfp being the issue. Today, we replaced the hpfp with the stock piston and the issue is still occurring. Recently, did the avantgg lpfp mod with a walbro 450...still having the issue.

Is there anything else I should be looking at? Im not feeling any loss of performance or fuel cuts, but the CEL is getting really annoying and I would love to get rid of it, but at this point don't know where to go

I would start thinking about the HP fuel rail pressure sensor underneath the SC - G247. Try to log fuel pressure with VCDS or OBD11 and compare with specified range in DTC description (see below).

Good call, I am thinking that might be the culprit at this point as I threw code P119A (fuel pressure sensor) today, so looking to replace g247 this week. Any idea what the p/n is? I cannot seem find one for the 3.0

I have read of a lot of people having issues with Autotech and 034 HPFP pistons lately.

In several cases, users switched to the pre-assembled IE unit and it resolved their problems.

I had the same code a month ago, it turned out the fuel pressure sensor on the bottom of the HPFP wasn't even finger-tight. Check the connector on it too, I had issues with that about 3 years ago.

Thanks y’all. Was able to find on prime for $30 and arrives Thursday. Hopefully this does it, but will check all connectors and associated fuel sensors while in there. Given I’ve been dealing with a fuel rail pressure too low code and now fuel pressure sensor code I’m really hoping this resolves it

When was last time injectors saw cleaner? My injectors were sticking open and threw that code initially with my autotech piston.

I ran a can of BG 44k with my last fill-up, but the last time the injectors were out was roughly 18k miles ago when I did the swap. car is running great, no signs of clogged injectors.

I just changed out the G247 but still have the P0087 fuel rail pressure too low code. At this point, Im blaming the tune (VPS). The owner is being a shithead and blaming components, but at this point ive changed the lpfp to walbro 450, replaced the auto tech hpfp back to a different stock hpfp, and have now changed the g247 sensor. Ive been trying to figure this cel out for almost a year now, and VPS will not admit its their tune (the CEL started immediately after final revision tune), so I think im just going to go back to IE and figure out an o2 spacer combo to get rid of the cat CEL

When you do find a combo.. let me know. Going to a similar setup soon on IE.

Running a low fuel pressure code for a year is not the smartest thing I've read on the internet today.

It would be very difficult for the tune to create a rail pressure P0087 issue. Because even if the tuner did some wacky stuff like keep the regulator valve closed improperly, the fuel pump would still be creating fuel pressure since its output is directly a function of rpm.

Since you did the Walbro mod, are you able to log and see improvement? Maybe issue with the lpfp that doesnt trigger ecu fault, but doesnt feed the hpfp properly throwing that code first?

well, I flashed back to IE dual pulley and ripped it home and scanned...no soft codes, and p0087 would always come back after a hard drive, so it does appear to have been tune related. will be getting some more miles in shortly to confirm

I am not familiar with VPS, could you provide a little more information on them for those of us whom are not in the know?

Sounds like those fucking scammers at Eurodyne. I went through hell with them for months until I said fuck it and dumped another load of $$$$ at 034(which immediately fixed ALL the issues). Eurodyne sells shit products and their "support" is nothing more than "our tune worked on another car, so the problem must be your car". Fuck Eurodyne, don't buy anything from them, ever. If anyone from ED sees this, go ahead and post up your reply, or refund my $1,100 and I'll think about removing this post. I don't even have the stomach to sell this shitty tune and cable to someone else, or even give it away.

ya it was some bullshit, zero follow up from the tuner and would never accept responsibility that it was the tune causing the code. the tune was VPS (verstarkt performance systems) they're one of the few custom 3.0 tuners around. my shop had become a dealer and convinced me to switch over. it was fine at first and everything was dialed, but after the final revision the code immediately popped and the tuner was blaming lpfp needing to be upgraded. did that, still the same issue and started blaming other components. reached out via phone numerous times and left multiple VMs along with emails over the last year to change parameters or find a solution but still have never gotten a response back. switched back to me IE tune yesterday and the car is running cherry with zero CELs
