    Picking up 2022 RS6

    Hey everyone,

I'll be picking up a 2022 RS6 on Thursday, it has 4800 and got a pretty good deal.

I did get a little concerned reading these forums about breakdowns and issues, so I was curious the general consensus on reliability. I know sometimes forums don't always paint a good picture.

I know every car and experienxe is different.
Just trying to get an idea if I can expect lots of issues or generally the car is reliable.

    Thanks!

My 2021 has been pretty solid *knocking on wood*. Leaking strut replaced about two months after delivery has been the only real issue and a minor one at that. I run into the occasional MMI is weird thing that requires holding down the volume button to reset it (ran into this 3x to date in 2 years of ownership). There are a few recalls hanging around which may or may not apply to your vehicle. I do think the big baddie folks participating in these (and other) forums hope DOES NOT happen to them is the 48V generator taking a dump at an inopportune time. This failure turns the car into a literal 5,000lb paperweight if it doesn't get driven to a dealer fast enough...and when it does happen, you don't have much time to get it to one. It really is a drop everything, turn off as many electrical accessories as possible and drive to a dealer RIGHT NOW event if you want to avoid a flatbed.

Thanks for the insight/experience. Yah, the 48V thing is what spooked me. The dealer I am picking up from sent the RS6 to an Audi dealer and is getting all the recalls handled, so hopefully it means they will look everything over before I pick up.

I have had a 22 for just over a year and 8000 miles. It is my daily and luckily not had any problems. I also always shut off the Auto Start/Stop everytime I get in the car. Then I put the car into RS1 or Dynamic. I know, people say that you don't have to shut the start/stop with RS1 but the car stops when you put it into park... The Apple Play never really seems to work half of the time but it doesn't really bother me. There is an auto start/stop mod for the 21's but when we tried to install it in my car the dash lit up like a Christmas tree. I also use the stock 21's with winter tires and stock 22's with summer rubber to avoid flats on the crappy CT/NY/NJ roads.
All things considered, it has been a great car to own so far! Enjoy!

Audi circulated letters recently with 7 year/unlimited mile extended warranty for the starter/alternator issue and it is transferable to any new owner when buying used. That should give you a little comfort. I just got my letter last week.

So far I've put 12,000 issue free miles on my 2022 RS6 over the last 10 months of ownership, it has been great!!

My 2021 RS7 has been solid so far so its just the small minority that will bring any concerns and issues to the forums. Otherwise the RS7 and RS6 are very reliable. Congrats!!

Congrats. The car is solid...yes it has it's quirks (recalls), but they're covered under your warranty...the overall experience with the car trumps all of the "inconveniences" people talk about...enjoy the car...a rare beast and a pleasure to drive.

I hit a year of ownership last Friday on my 22 RS6 and have recorded 13,500 worry free miles and no issues at all. It has been an absolute joy to own and drive this thing!

    You will be fine :)

Same here. 2 years in, 13k miles. Got 2yr service today at The Collection while I’m down here in Miami and they did all 3 recalls (I haven’t had any of those actual issues) in the same day.

Also there are very few direct alternatives to the RS6, especially in the US. That combination of cool/fun factor and all-round usability is hard to beat at any price.
