Background: I am making the transition from my 2011 S4 to a new 2023 S5 Sportback. With the S4, I used a Tune2Air bluetooth device for connectivity to my somewhat ancient iPhone 7. It was not an problem-free solution and I frequently had connectivity issues which occasionally required rebooting the phone. At times, when using the phone inside the house after a drive, the Tune2Air would automatically connect to the phone when I didn't want it to. It was a frustrating experience but I lived with it for many years.
The new S5 is an extraordinary improvement! With wired or wireless CarPlay, we can do all the things our old phone is capable of doing, listening to podcasts, recorded music, etc. But the iPhone7 doesn't have wireless charging, so I thought I was stuck with the continuing use of cords plugged into USB ports to keep the phone charged. Fortunately, I found a solution in an innovative 3D-printed B9/9.5 Armrest Phone Cradle. It handles both iPhones CarPlay and Android Auto, and makes charging and wired connectivity to the car as easy as sliding the phone into the cradle.
The product's creator, Martin Harnois says: "If you like to easily put your phone away when driving while running wired CarPlay or Android Auto and charging your phone at the same time, this cradle is for you. It is even more useful on longer drives when wireless charging can sometimes struggle to keep your phone charged." The price for his cradles are less than $70 for the iOS phones and include the cradle, choice of the MFi certified captive 12" long lightning to USB-C (or A) cable, mounting screws, instructions and ground shipping.
Here's a short video showing how easy it is to use the armrest phone cradle ...

I just installed the Armrest Phone Cradle on my S5 and am impressed with how well it works and how easy it is to insert the phone and go. And no more cords to deal with or inconsistent wireless performance (which was likely mostly a Tune2Air issue for me. Here are a couple pics I just took (sorry for the quality but with the phone in the cradle, I had to take the pic with an old iPad -- and the garage was a bit dark!)
