Opinions on low temp coolant after run pump switch

    Hey guys-
As part of my stage 3 build I replaced my coolant after run pump, and bought a low temp switch for it. Any pros/cons with this setup?

battery/wear life vs slightly better at fighting temp creep. if you rip it around and put it away hot, this will *help* combat cooking things after you park, a bit, occasionally.

Just drive out or boost for a minute or so before you park.

Had it for 2 years. Just went back to stock. A nearly useless change that masks itself as a “mod”

OK, well it was only $20 so no big deal. Thanks for replies.

With it will the pump run pretty much every time I shut down?

Yep - which was part of the reason I got rid of it. I'm still on my original after run pump (199k), so I didn't want to keep chancing it. Same goes for the aux fan - that is fairly new on my car (1.5 years old), but why make it run more than needed, when there's no need for it *after shutdown* unless temps command it. It's winter here now, but even with ambient temps as warm as 55F, now when I shut the car down after even a 2 hour drive, my EFK stays on for maybe 2-5 minutes depending how long I've driven, then shuts off. I've yet to see the aux fan kick on now that I went back to the stock sensor. I am sure come summer, I will see both run, briefly.

Also, it dawned on me that I cannot think of any scenario where I'd be super hard on the car for an extended period of time, and then just park it, repeatedly. As such, the stock temp setup works just fine

Different people have different opinions on this, but I deleted that piece of shit after run pump when I went stage 3. It was leaking coolant under the IM so I had to replace or delete…As a rule of thumb I dont get into boost for at least the last 10ish minutes of my drive (I’ve been told this is overkill)…And on Warmer days where I’ve driven hard enough to get temps up, I also let the car idle for a few minutes longer than I do at a minimum which is about 3 minutes… on REALLY hot days I’ve let it idle up to 10 minutes but no idea if it’s neccesary.. this summer I’m going to use my infrared laser thermometer to check coolant temps after different weather/driving conditions and see what’s actually necessary…

Slightly different view - I've been running that setup for about 10 years. My after run pump failed from corrosion, I believe due to the fact that I live in a moderate climate and don't beat on the car so my after run pump rarely if ever ran. Now it runs for a short time almost every time I drive the car. Car was designed that way and my setup hasn't hurt anything yet but may be a bit easier on those turbos that are so much fun to pull!

Been running that low temp switch for over 15 years. Its not a problem. Replaced the pump once
