    Car jack

I just picked up an rs5 sportback. I live the car so far, the only thing the bugs me is the placement of the jack, in the trunk. There doesn't seem to be enough space to hide it by the spare tire.

Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions if where to put it? I'd prefer to have it at all times just in case, but would be great if there was a place to hide it.

Mine was packaged up and tied down in the trunk. It would make more sense with the spare, but for now it's tucked to the side.

I put mine in the wheel well with the spare. The spare doesn't sit completely center but they are both in there.

Thanks for posting the pictures. I can’t believe Audi’s solution was just strap it into the trunk. Seems like a total afterthought and it should have had a proper storage spot.

It was originally designed to go at the back of the trunk, under the floor, just behind the rear seats. However, for the 2019 models, they ended up putting some new hardware in that spot which left no room for the jack. Crazy!

I own a 2023 RS5 Sportback and for the record, the jack still does not stow away. My 2018 S5 Sportback had storage ahead of the tire. The best explanation I have heard for this displacement is the upgraded sports differential in the RS5. That said, it is what it is.

The change was due to the J949 introduced in MY19. In conjunction with the sport diff, there's no room for the jack in the original wagon/sportback location in the cargo floor tray.

I removed the old OEM subwoofer, after adding a Basser subwoofer enclosure & Kicker amplifier. This space was used to build a mount for my tire jack and torque wrench in the OEM B&O subwoofer location. A 3/8” thick Neoprene Sponge Foam Rubber surrounds the jack. Both the jack and torque wrench are strapped down. It is mounted on 18.5” x 8.5”x 1/2” plywood & a 18.5” long 2x4 tall side mounted vertical, which the spare tire rests on:

I stowed mine with the spare too. If you take everything out and put it back with the jack on the left side, it will work. Spare doesn't sit perfectly flush but the cover fits perfectly over it.

Thanks everyone for the awesome responses and storage locations. I was able to pickup a used one off fleabay for $64 shipped. I removed the oem subwoofer and going to store it there as there's plenty of room. Hope to never have to use it....LOL

I'm astounded Audi did not come up with a solution for a basic safety item for these $70k+ cars.
