    B9 RS5 CTS Intake

Hello, Just wondering if anyone has used the B9 RS5 CTS Intake and can give me a brief review about it. Giving the price it is kind of a no brainer, but being an open intake does it detract from vehicle's performance?

    Thank You

It’s definitely slightly louder (but not annoyingly so) than most intakes, and makes a great suction noise. But since the filter is completely exposed it will pull in more hot air. There is a lot of debate on open intakes from a performance perspective. More air is great but hot air is not. I wouldn’t expect much of a performance difference between different open intakes. If you are racing around a lot or tracking the car, a fully contained intake with a better flowing filter (compared to eom) is the best route for performance but doesn’t produce any cool noises.

How about for air flow on a stage 2 remap? Does the heat from the engine due to the open intake start causing issues? I dont really care for the looks of the carbon intakes, just want to make sure that it doesnt remove performance from the vehicle compared to upgraded airfilter on stock box. Thanks

Exactly, due to the price im considering it. If it takes away from performance on stage 2, ill rather just stick with stock box with upgraded filter.

I have the CTS turbo intake on my RS5, it was actually the same intake that was on my B9 S5 before I traded it in for the RS5, it bolted right onto it. I didn't plan on using it but said what the hell since I also moved over my JB4 from the S5. I haven't specifically monitored it, but I notice my IATs are higher with the CTS turbo when I am in traffic. When I had the stock box, there was a good noticeable difference in IAT when in traffic.
On the highway and open road when the air is flowing through the bay, temps are lower, but once you get off of it, the temps climb. Also to note, it DOES NOT include an inlet pipe, it uses the stock inlet pipe, so just from that alone, don't expect a huge gain in performance. It is, however FUN, when you romp on the gas and let off and hear the turbos spool up and blow off, followed by the exhaust crackle in Sport/Dynamic mode. It adds a whole lot of audible fun, and for the price, thats what you're getting. If you want the best performance or want to track it like I will be next month hopefully, get a closed air intake or stay with the stock box. Heat soak is a problem you don't want with a turbo engine.
