V10 5.2 Manual Swap Kit Interest?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hi everybody, long time lover of the 5.2 v10, but not necessarily the heavy C6 with the automatic. Yes yes I know... fast shifts, whatever...

I wanted to see if there's any interest here for a 5.2 manual swap kit that'd be pre-assembled with a modified B7 RS4 rear timing cover, B7 RS4 starter, 140 Amp air cooled alternator (to reduce coolant line complications), C6 A6 3.2 5mm transmission spacer, input shaft plug removal, and crank sensor conversion.

I'll also include a PnP engine to chassis loom that gets the power where it needs and the Canbus signals + TPS where it needs to be, essentially making the factory engine ECU's and harness drop into any chassis and run off of 12 wires in total connected to the vehicle. Immobilizer deletes and tuning has already been proven on my current swap with over 25,000 miles and I've been able to bring the cost down by working with my tuner directly.

The engine would require a B7 RS4 Clutch, Flywheel, and Pressure plate kit for the standard 01e transmission (5sp or 6sp) and I've already confirmed it to work with 01a and 01x (Porsche Boxster Transmission)

Prices would vary depending on milage of engine, but I currently have 3 conplete engines. First on the block is a 70,000 mile motor with non broken intake manifold. I won't name any prices as this isn't intended to be a F/S ad, but would be more than happy to perform gasket/seal replacement, carbon cleaning, etc.

Very cool! You need to figure out a price for the conversion bits needed and what it will be worth you. Engines and Transmissions can be sourced locally to make shipping reasonable.

If I had unlimited funds I'd rip my 3.0T out and figure out how to stuff this in. Awesome project!

Transmissions yes, although slim pickin's... engines not so much unless you purchase the entire C6 S6. I've already laid out the pricing of conversion bits + labor and have settled around the $7000 mark.

This engine already has a deposit, but I have 2 more right behind that. I just didn't want to list prices in non-f/s section of the forum

For those that can locally source the engines, you bring up a good point of offering a "kit" that would come with everything necessary to convert their already existing 5.2

    Thank you for that option!

Why did you use the 01E vs the later 0A3? Cost or rear differential ratios?

So is the conversion bits price excluding the transmission and engine? Occasionally S6s come up for part outs here on the forums, there's one with a 70,000 mile engine for sale for $5000. And is the conversion specifically for a C6 A6, or are there options for something like a C5 avant?

I chose the 01e because it's what came factory in my C4 S6 Avant. That means factory slave cylinder, factory transmission mounts, axles, driveshaft, linkage... you name it.

The $7000 is for the engine with necessary rear timing cover, starter, alternator, and wiring harness to go into any chassis that'll fit it. The 70,000 mile engine your reffering to is 1 of 3 I have for sale at the moment, and that one is JUST the engine to be clear. The engines will drop into any year, make, and model chassis that will fit it and a transmission behind it... doesn't even necessarily have to be AWD.

There are options to retrofit a C6 A6 with the 5.2 AND a manual; this would require sourcing OEM parts from Europe (I believe the Desiel model came as standard with a manual. Not necessarily the route I want to go with these swaps so I haven't looked into it too in depth, but totally doable.

So, how about from the engine back? My v10 only has 90k on it and runs like a beast.

    It's been done to a C5 S6 Avant so I don't see why not!
