Ok so what engine is this?

So I bought a used replacement engine for my A4 B7 2.0t FSI since the cam seized. I was told the new engine is the same engine that I have now. They both have engine ID BWT. They both have timing belts not chains. I go and order a shit ton of replacement parts for it before I put it in the car and when I went to rebuild the vacuum pump I realized that the pumps from the 2 engines are different. I tried looking into this and am now thinking is this replacement engine a TFSI? The engine says it was made in March of 2008. So is this one of those 2008.5 engines and is it still going to work in my car?

The pumps may not be identical but they look like they will interchange.

I don't think they will. The piece that goes into the cam is different. The newer engines pump has a notch in the middle with a small ball there. I can just get a different kit to replace the seals on that pump. This is just a surprise to me that it appears to be a different engine now. It looks like it's a TFSI or something.

They both will work. They have a newer revision that is supposed to help keep from leaking oil over time. They changed the location of the o-ring. Engines are the same, if both BWT(07-08, US).

Ok but the rebuild kit I got for the vacuum pump that's for a B7 A4 2.0t FSI won't work since the o-rings are different but the kit that's available for a B8 A4 2.0t TFSI looks like the correct ones.

I just pulled up a pic of a tfsi vacuum pump and it's different than what I have so I guess that makes sense what you said.

It might be helpful in the long run if you keep all the posts on the same car/engine journey in one thread rather than creating a new thread on every question/issue you come across.

Most rebuild kits ya find on ebay/Amazon, will come with 4 orings. One for the nipple, one for the case cover, and 2 for the pump to head(2 different sizes). So ya have correct one for either okd ir newer revision.
