    Techtonics Tuning Down/Front Exhaust pipe for a 2005 Audi A4 B6 1.8TQ 6MT

    Hello;

    I purchased the B6 A4 '04-'05 1.8T, Turbo Downpipe (Quattro w/6 spd) 2.5"/55mm from Techtonics Tuning.
Looking at their pipe and the stock pipe, it looks like the flex portion sits higher up on the pipe, closer to the cat.
That and the mount point to the transmission is a little lower.

I've got the old pipe out and am ready to install the new one but am worried this won't bolt up.
Has anyone ever had a fitment issue?

    Thanks

Installed the pipe but the mount bracket on the pipe doesn't reach the one on the transmission.

It would be quick project with a welder to fabricate and extend the arm on the downpipe so it reaches further.
Or, if you dont want to weld, might be possible able to fabricate a bolt-together extension so it connects.

Thnxs for replying. That was the first thing I thought about before I came from under the car.

But this should just work, so I've been led to believe.

There is a chance they sent you the wrong pipe either 5mt or tip one. I would just get a short piece of metal drill it and bolt it to the trans bracket and pipe bracket.

    Thnx Sean for replying.

Before I ordered the part, I spoke w/Techtonics Tuning about the correct pipe for my car. I was concerned about fitment issues and they said the pipe would "bolt right up".

When I got the old stock flex pipe out and lined it up against their pipe, I could see the hanger was going to be a problem.
I called Techtonics Tuning again and sent them a picture. They still said it would bolt up. Over 300 sold for my car and only a few returns.

I sent them some more pictures last night and they don't understand why it doesn't work.

I have to go out and get under the car again to take some measurements/ and more pics to send them.
They are going to fabricate something as suggested and send it to me to see if we can get this pipe to work while they figure out what's wrong.

Techtonics Tuning pre and post sale support is wonderful and they are a pleasure to work with.

But that doesn't take away from where I'm at now despite all their assurances I wouldn't be in this situation.

If it helps this is the bracket I made to adapt a five speed down pipe to a six speed.

Thanks Kevin C. What does give me some ideas. Was that fabricated from 1/8" bar stock?

Edited Post: to ask what about thickness of fabricated bracket.

To button this up, Techtonics Tuning made me up a bracket to install their Downpipe using the stock mount location. They shipped it pretty fast.
    FlexPipe_MountBracket1.jpg

The bracket included the mounting hardware, but the bolt is too long.
The combination of the washer and maybe the bolt being too long and is pushing out against the pipe is causing the alignment of the mounting to be off a bit.
    FlexPipe_MountBracket2.jpg

But my car was up on the Quickjack since the 1st and I needed to move on past this project.
So I just continued buttoning everything up and took the car out for a first run.

The exhaust sounds about as it did before w/the stock pipe. I didn't have any problems with rattling or noise due to the mounting issues.

I really don't see how Techontics Tuning item "B6 A4 '04-'05 1.8T, Turbo Downpipe (Quattro w/6 spd) 2.5"/55mm (251 130R)" can be mounted at the stock tranny hanger without a bracket or there is another position you can move the "lollipop" to.
    Not for a 2005 A4 B6 1.8TQ 6MT.

But the pipe does fit the car like the factory pipe.

One thing I checked when I got the car on the ground is if it was hanging too low, and you could see it when looking at the underbody from the side.
    Thankfully it wasn't.

I'll take the car out for a longer drive when I'm off on Sunday.

Techtonics is a solid company been dealing with them for some time. Really good quality products especially their downpipes.

I didn't say anything about the quality of the company or its products. The thread was about them telling me the downpipe was a direct fit, and it wasn't.
To be fair, in the 30 yrs I've been wrenching, few aftermarket parts are "bolt on". Which leads to my disdain for using them.

I got a good deal on the B6 A4. In the vehicle inspection report I saw that it was better to replace the pipe. I hope my replacement will be easier than yours, if not, I already know what to do

One thing I didn't try was seeing if there was a second mount point on the tranny for the mounting bracket (lollipop). I see a second screw hole along the side of the transmission, but I couldn't get the bolt out of the existing location to see if it would work.
