    Electrical system malfunction

So last night my 2018 s4 slide off the road into the median and into a crap ton of snow. No damage to car but car was engulfed in snow and stuck. Instantly I had check engine lights going off saying electrical system malfunction and sport differential not operational. The wrecker got it today and now in my heated garage. The engine compartment appeared dry but the front end of the car was pack with snow. Closest audi mechanic is 3 hrs away. Not sure what to do at this point. It was still melting from underneath and front of the car at the time of my writing this post. I guess will see if still an issue in the morning once the snow melts. Just looking for some advice on this matter and if anyone else has dealt with this issue and snow. Thanks in advance.

Reset all faults with OBD11, then try again

I have a Ancel vd700. Not entirely sure how to clear codes with it. I only purchased it for a brake job. I can research that.

There's VCDS, then there's everything else (that's not a lot more expensive). OBDeleven falls in that "everything else". But at least of "everything else", OBDeleven is probably the closest to VCDS there is. So when we talk of reading DTCs, clearing DTCs, etc, we're expecting at least a VCDS level experience.

Looking at how that tool operates, you saw all modules report back Ok during the vehicle scan - system scan? Specifically, 32-differential locks and 74-chassis control?

It looks like if there were any codes, all the VD700 can retrieve are generic OBD-II codes, not actual DTCs with any information or freeze frame details. Could well be you have DTCs but not generic OBD-II codes. It does not appear there is a clear all DTCs, but not really relevant if it has nothing it can find to clear anyway.

Probably why I couldn’t find any codes then. Well, I will locate a better unit and scan. Hopefully that’ll do the trick. Everything has melted now and still in the warm garage.

The last time I had an electrical malfunction, my battery was faulty, and also the positive terminal was loose. That could also be a contributing factor.

Serpentine belt popped off. I cannot find anything on how to put back on on the web or owners manual. Hmmm

Looks like two belts. The coolant pump pulley goes in the upper right where nothing is drawn. Better images in the workshop manuals. erwin.audiusa.com, pay for a day, get all the PDFs for your VIN.

Video at this timestamp gives a pretty good view: youtu.be/6S6aalkx8jE?t=43

Fixed! Thanks for all your help! I got belt on from underneath car. Hooked up my new OBDeleven and cleared all codes. Started her up and no codes. Took a quick drive and got a clean bill of health.
