    Phone Mount review

Got my SQ5 back in October and couldn’t find a good spot to store my phone while I was in the car driving. Used pro clip USA in my SL55 which was a bit difficult since it’s older and was really happy with it… so I ordered one of the two SQ5 units they make.

Install took a whole solid minute and was a -1/10(easy) to install. It uses a combination of double sided low tack tape, and tension to mount it. Phone holder is extra from proclip usa but I ordered a wireless charger(Rockform) that works with my phone case. Overall fit and finish is 10, install is 10 but I mounted it a little low and it got in the way of my hill descent button. It was no big deal because I moved it but I wonder long term how that double sided tape will work. If that stays on, this is a solid pick up for anyone looking not to keep a phone in their pocket or suction cupped to a windshield.

In the 'vette I use a pro-clip with a wireless charger and it works well but it does jiggle a bit.

In the SQ5 I use this:

It doesn't hold the phone in a way I can view the maps, but it is at least out of the way and doesn't block any buttons. Also, some phones may be too large for it.

    The proclip is loose?

I use this wireless charger from Rokform... So far pretty snug and allows me to mount my iphone sideways for maps as well as upright

I also use the Proclip in my Q5. It is actually the perfect spot. Away from the controls and not blocking the vents. Still in an area you can use real quick at stops without having to pick up the phone. I have used this for about 5 years now (I think) so there is no issues with the tape or it coming off.

Same, except mine has been on since August of 2013 when we bought our 2014 SQ5. Hasn't moved a bit!

No, the proclip mount is solid. But with a heavy'ish phone and heavy pro-clip qi-wireliess charger on the end of a 3-inch stalk, it's bound to wiggle no matter how tight the ball coupling is.

One of these day's I'll convert to quadlock, but as that involves hundreds of dollars of parts to convert multiple vehicles over it's not going to happen soon. Probably not until I can no longer get any refurbed pixel 3's have have to convert everything anyway.

The wiggle isn't too bad. Ironically, my C7 'vette has a softer and more compliant suspension than the SQ5.

I've had mounts that started to give way after a few hot months. It's smart to think about how it'll hold up long-term. Adjusting the placement to avoid blocking important controls was a good move on your part.

I was also in need of a phone case that works well with mounts and supports wireless charging. Unfortunately, I didn't find one because my favorite phone cases shop doesn't have them. Maybe you have some suggestions?
