exhaust shop wont remove front resonators

So ECS tuning kept pushing my ship date back every time my VSP front resonator deletes were due to ship. I ordered them back on 12/2/2022 and then it was 12/28, 1/6, 1/12, 1/18 and not 2/8..... So i cancelled the order.

I called my local exhaust shop to have them quote me to cut the front two resonators out and they told me no, b/c they are really secondary Cats and not resonators.... I have checked Audi's parts list and they call them mufflers and other places call them resonators but I have yet to see anywhere that these are in fact secondary cat.

Anyone know what the deal is here?

The shop is dumb, you have 2 cats technically both in the same pipe.... The down pipe coming right off the turbo at your firewall.

The front are just resonators as well as the big middle "suitcase" resonator 100%

Find another shop, simple as. That shop thinks they're "too good" to work on your car is what this tells me

Possibly that too, any decent shop could cut and spot in some easy pipe in less than an hour for $50 in material. Not worth much.

I had asked a guy that does nice custom work and titanium kits to do something similar for me once and he never even got back to me.... So I went and got a full titanium valved cat back kit elsewhere fk em.

Yep, this was an exhaust shop. I called my local Midas where the tech daily is a B6 S4 and he also said that shop was stupid and he's going to do it next week. Thanks!

Leave a review as a warning to others. If they are trying to be unethical and rip people off, or just hiring unqualified techs to save money, then they should be exposed.

Assuming the story is as you told us of course.

yeah I think the person i talked to was just stupid.... Kept trying to tell me " well the hellcats and trackhawks I do all week have two Cats." I was like okay well this is an Audi and the Cat is on the top of the motor along with the turbo and these are down stream of the downpipe that are post cat.... My guess is he just didnt want to job

This is common as if you dont have a diagram from AUDI, they think it is a cat. It likely is also a place very unfamiliar with your car / Audi tech. I had the same issue. I took my car somewhere else, but before doing so showed them the diagram on Audi website, that shows its a resonator.
