Torn between resonated cat backs from AWE and Milltek

    Hi all,

I'd like to improve the quality of the sound my S4 makes but don't want to make it too much louder than stock. Drone must be avoided at all costs. I was curious as to whether people have heard both the Milltek and AWE resonated cat-backs and if they have opinions on the difference. I've listened to so many sound clips on youtube, but they're not all that much help.

    Thanks!

I have had a custom exhaust with the resonators removed and a catless DP. Although this setup sounds really good, there was drone which is why I switched. I'm currently running the AWE Switchpath with the stock DP, no drone with this setup. Are you gong to be running the OEM DP, HFC, or catless?

i have never been a fan of AWE exhaust on any car i've heard it on, they all have this weird tone that's heard across all platforms. i have done miltek on 6 of my cars, any time i've strayed away and went with something else, i always ended up going back and buying a miltek. no different on my b9, love it. i'm running a resonated miltek with catless cts downpipes.

Go with the resonated miltek, it will give you an OEM+ like sound. plus the tips look great, particularly the titanium ones

I wouldn’t do Catless, Highflow maybe but my catless is to high pitch no matter what I’ve done. From Borla to additional vibrant resonators. Wot sounds great but normal driving it sounds like crap. And by loud, I’m hard of hearing and it’s still loud lol. My db app shows I cruise at 75-77db and that’s with complete dynamat

I have a ton of videos up with the ECS exhaust. Construction is the best ive seen in a long time for any aftermarket exhaust, sound is incredible, and with the valves closed, its no louder than the factory exhaust with the valves open. Its also quite a bit cheaper than the other systems, and looks fantastic with the huge black tips. I wouldnt hesitate to buy it again over the AWE or Miltek. My opinions on the build quality of the exhaust is based on 20 years of fabrication, welding and exhaust building experience, so its not just a "looks the same to me" opinion.

ill record a video but there's nothing high pitch about the miltek resonated with catless.

If you're that particular about drone (and I am as well) - I would not purchase any exhaust that I had not ridden in personally....which I realize is not easy thing to do. But, drone is sooooo subjective and certainly cannot be appreciated by a video or a sound clip.
