    Hybrid Turbo - Weird Question

I bought an EMD hybrid Turbo and noticed the turbine shaft nut was cut at one end. Googled it and it seems to be common for the hybrid turbos. It's not really of much importance just curiosity, but does anyone know why this is done? Collage_2023-01-17_12_31_41.jpg

EMD did my Stertman ECU and TCU Stage 3 E35 tune and upgraded turbos. No problems after two years of fun:) I never saw the turbos off the car. I had Thomas do all the tuning, data logging and installation. I would imagine the turbos are just like yours
