    B9 S5 brake help!

Hi all! I have a 2019 S5 SB prestige and tripped the brake pad wear sensor. Looks like the rears need to be replaced, but I am looking to replace all 4 pads/rotors for DAILY use with spirited driving (no track ever). I found Zimmerman (plain jane) on FCP euro for good prices. However, I am really confused with pads now. I was set on getting EBC red stuff (direct from EBC due to stock issues of them everywhere else) but many websites are telling me incorrect /incompatible part numbers and the other sites say it is a correct/compatible part number. I'm confused.

Also, I am also contemplating looking at Powerstop Z23 pads from Amazon (I have a GC I need to burn, so prefer buying pads if possible from here). Has anyone used the Z23 series for their S4/S5 pads for daily use with spirited driving? Any other pads you can recommend (with links/part numbers that will fit my vehicle)?

For example EBC Red stuff pads I am seeing mixed compatibility:

Front EBD Red stuff model: DP32277C
Rear EBC red stuff model: DP32254C

Lastly, what specific hardware will I need other than sensors? I was told rotor set screws, shims, and guide bolts? Anywhere that just has all of these in one place? I have sourced random ones from FCP euro, but I feel like I'm duplicating hardware and ordering some things that are not necessary. Audi reports I need these hardware part #s:
    4M0-698-231-A
    4M0-615-269-B

    Thank you!

Cross reference the parts with A5. Rears are the same. Might help narrowing down which parts are correct/incorrect.

Could also consider the Hawk 5.0 pads. Got mine on Amazon this summer for ~$205 total (front and rear). Brembo plain rear rotors are also a solid option.

Thanks for the info. The Z23 seem to have very good reviews, and total for both front and rear (hardware included ~$100) vs 250-300 for Hawk/EBC. Is it that big of a difference or any difference at all? How is your stopping performance vs OEM and squeal? Thanks again!

Very big difference. Read that brake thread in the S4 forum. I reviewed both.

I opted for the Powerstop Z23. I'll be installing them this week and report my views after I've put enough miles on them to give an informed assessment. I'm mostly concerned with brake dust, and I decided against the EBC because of multiple reviews like this one.

Keep us posted, I ordred both sets of pads to help read and decide before the job is done. I appreciate any feedback you have on the stock vs Z23 pads in terms of stopping feel. Dust is not an issue I care about. Thanks!

I went back and forth actually buying stock OEM pads and aftermarket for my rears before actually doing the install. Ultimately I went with the OEM pads and rotors (approx $350 for the rotors/pads/rotor set screws from audi dealer ordered online and shipped). The OEM pads came with new bolts and backing plates in the box. The bite and performance of the OEM setup was so great I decided reducing the dust was less important. The brakes on the S5 from the factory are really great. I am doing the front in the spring/summer, also going with OEM parts for those which I already purchased a while back.

Installed the PowerStop Z23 Evolution brake pads today and after breaking them in put about 40 miles on them in mixed driving. I went with just pads on the front but did replace the rotors in the rear with the PowerStop drilled and slotted ones. Everything fit just fine, and installation was a breeze. No squeaks or unusual noises but man did they ever stink during the break-in process. I've seen people say the pedal is mushy and they didn't have good bite, but I didn't experience any of that. In fact, I can't really tell much difference in pedal feel and stopping power from the factory set-up. I can't imagine anyone being disappointed in the way they perform in bringing your car to a stop at least in everyday normal driving. As far as dust goes too soon to tell on that front. I'll give my thoughts on that after a few days of driving.
