    Passenger mirror reverse tilt gone

I kind of just noticed that my passenger mirror doesn’t tilt down anymore. It did when I got the car. Where do I start to fix that? VCDS does not show any codes that seem related to that.

I did replace my front seats with B8.5 S4 seats so whatever modules were in the seats are gone. Did those modules control the mirror tilting down? I can’t remember if it stopped tilting down immediately after I put the seats in or not.

I would just leave this alone but since I parallel park every day in the city I do miss having that

Dumb question, but you do have the mirror switch flipped to the passenger side, right?

Never a dumb question diagnosing weird issues. Yes I’ve got it set to passenger and I’ve tried all positions

I picked up an Avant really cheap a few years ago that had a bunch of issues and have been getting them sorted little by little.

When I bought it, the mirrors folded in, but the tilt down when you put it in reverse did not work. I pulled the mirror and checked the pins from the door harness to the mirror and found that I got voltage when the mirror was supposed to tilt, so I figured it had to be the mirror motor.

I grabbed the P/N off the motor and hit the pick and pull looking for motors with the same P/N. What was strange was that I found the correct part number in a drivers side mirror. I am guessing it is a mirror motor with tilt and memory that is the key and goes on both sides. The junk yard mirror motor fixed the tilt feature.

Anyway, I would start by checking for voltage at the mirror motor connector when you put it in reverse. I cannot really say if the seat swap will have any connection to the mirror tilt not working.

Does the tilt feature not depend on the module that is associated with the power adjust seats? I seem to recall that they are somehow linked

wow fun thread, this morning on FB someone posted this exact 'reversed' question because he found this feature annoying and useless... hahah

Is it like the key fob? when you loose power it need to be 'resync' and then its back ?

very useful imo when you have expensive wheels, and the local law request a parking less than 30cm, but I want 5cm to be sure no car will hit my mirrors

I've got B8 S4 seats as well, shouldn't affect the mirror but who knows. I can check that it still works when I get off work.

Side conversation someone might have thoughts on, I think my only complaint is it really sucks at reverting to the memory position after being used. IIRC is overshoots and more points toward the sky vs where it should be set.

Reversing Mirror tilt and power folding mirrors was part of the Memory Seats package for me.

So tested mine, it doesn't work either. You might be able to confirm with VCDS, but when I did my 2.7 swap, I did the seats at the same time. I've had an error since for DTC memory loss, which now I think is the culprit.

Someone would need to correct me, but isn't the memory module in the seat? That could be the issue since it's now gone/different.

I also have B8 S-line seats swapped in, B7 to B8 use different memory seat modules i have not found a way to make it work as the module is no longer in the car or has any way to communicate over to the mirror.

Just one little trade off for much better seating comfort, honestly hasnt bothered me not using it for 2+ years.

Correct. Tilt is tied to the module under the seat. the module is just sitting there and you could grab it from the old seats. If you connect it to power, ground, CAN and K line you could likely get it to work again.
