    Self-Parking cars Tesla v Audi v Ford v BMW - test and comparison ...

Hopefully this isn't a repost, but it's an interesting look at parallel and perpendicular self-parking technology for the 4 manufacturers listed. Pretty impressive to be sure, but for someone who religiously parks in the most protected and remote spots anywhere I go, I may not have much opportunity to use it. I'll definitely try it though, once our S5 is delivered (soon!).

Curious what others have experienced (good and bad) when using the self-parking feature.

I think it became available in North America with the B9.5 in 2020.

I actually happened to see this video earlier this morning and now the thread. Anyway the tesla really sucked balls in self parking. Literally a mess. BMW and Audi were worlds better. Not a feature I would pay extra for or probably even use if I had it but an interesting watch to see how much more advanced the german cars are to tesla. Before watching it I thought for sure the tesla would be way better. After seeing this I wouldn't have much confidence in tesla's self driving feature.

Seemed like all the cars did a lot of steering wheel turning while the car was stationary. Maybe I'm just old school but I was taught to turn the steering wheel only while the car was moving, however slowly, to reduce pressure and wear on the steering/suspension components. The Tesla would't have passed a driving test with the parallel parking attempts it used.

Same. Don't trust it, and I can park.

I tried it today for the first time on my 23’ S5 SB. I must say it was pretty impressive parallel parking the car, but a bit unnerving. I don’t feel comfortable not having control and probably won’t use it again. But it makes for a nice party trick.

I’m interested in this feature…but not for myself and instead for people like my fiancé and mom; unfortunately, it’s geofenced in NY and VT. I’m hoping someone here will find a way around that with VCDS.

I have tried this on my 2019 S5 and it was frustrating, maybe I just don't know how to use it....
