Trying to get rid of airbag warnings with resistors (aftermarket seats)

I’m trying to figure out what ohm value I should be using for the resistor. What wires to connect the resistor to, and get these errors cleared up so I can finish installing my seats in place. lol

Are there other values I should be reading with VCDS to get this sorted?

I’ve created some wired resistors to do this cleanly, and have the factory plugs to plug them into but need to get rid of the errors before plugging everything in for the last time.

The resistors I’ve wired in are 2.5ohm, which was the value I read from my original seats airbag plug connectors.

Do you still have the stock seats? Should be able to just read the impedance with a multimeter. Or can't you code out the errors with vcds

Rear airbag connection is resolved. I plugged the pins in the wrong holes on the connector ugh lol.

Down to just the front seat airbag sensors.

    Open or short to plus.

The resistor is plugging into the two wires (other than ground - brown)
Blue and yellow / blue and black.

    The connector has three wires.

I do, and I did read the old value, 2.5ohm. That's why I am so baffled ... just can't seem to clear the error. I clear the error in VCDS and it just comes back. I've tried every combination of wires to plug it into on the car side.

That's weird, those sensors are under the headlights

And they go straight to the module under the console, like the bags do. Was wondering if they were inline somehow but looks like no20230114_141318.jpg

LOL, .. no?!!!! ... I have the engine out and the front end was all off.

I just went and looked around at the wiring harness for the front. Sure enough. Two yellow connectors are hanging in the breeze.

So the errors that are throwing the MIL error is because they are unplugged.

So then, I’m guessing I actually do have the wiring correct with the resistors at the seats.

Where the heck are the actual sensors? Buried in the rad support by the fans or something?

lol. OMG @apeck you are brilliant. Without your comment on this being the actual front sensors, I never would have thought to look at and think about that.

Found the pesky sensors. Attached to the underside of the headlight brackets.

    IMG_1318.jpg

Plugged them in, cleared the errors. Restarted everything, scanned again and all airbag faults are gone. Yay!!!!

Thank you so much! I wasted so much time thinking it was the wrong resistance value!!

Figured out why the circuits were open always worth reading the codes real literally
