    CVT vs Automatic engine differences?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hello, I need to buy a new engine for my 2007 A4 2.0t Quattro B7 automatic. I found a good engine but it's from a car that had the CVT transmission. I was told by the mechanic that there was a slight difference between the two engines because of the two different transmissions (maybe the oil pan). Does anyone know if the engines are compatible with my car? Or if I have to change some parts to make it work?

The crank end is different. Manual/cvt are the same, auto tip is different. Some just install and get lucky, but better way is get a new tip bushing, and have it milled down(about 1mm all around), to fit inside the end of the manual crank. Thats after removing the pilot bearing. There is a thread in this group with the specifics.

Wow ok thanks Jay. I was told much differently. Do you know of a good source that sells those modified bushings? Looks like Brandon is MIA and if I was to attempt this engine swap I'd want to make it as simple as possible and not have to worry about finding machine shops near me.
