B9 2.0T Engine Tapping Cold Start

Ever since I bought my 2018 A5 SB, I've heard this noise on cold starts when the temperature is 50F or lower. It occurs as the engine rpm drops to an idle and then completely goes away and the engine sounds great thereafter. The car has a 3rd party warranty and my local indy shop had it for a few weeks. They believed the noise is coming from the HPFP and have replaced it...Noise is still present, although a little quieter.

Anyone else notice this, or is it just my car?

My 2016 A4 B9 makes the same noise when cold start.

Thanks for the response! It's helpful to see it's happening to other and just not me. I bought the car used, so I don't have a good point of reference. I'm continuing to drive as is and not let it bother me :)

Mine does the same thing. Just a slight tap for 10-20 seconds on a cold Michigan morning. Then it warms and all is normal.

I have the same issue. Brought the car in since it was still in warranty and the dealer says everything looks good. Even said they compared it to other cars they had and they all had the same noise.
