    Engine rattle at idle

Hello fellow members! I am dealing with a strange problem and I am writing here for any tips or advice you may give me, everything is appreciated! So I was having trouble and therefore was doing a lot of research about the “famous” cold start engine rattle that lasted for 1-2-3 seconds (the car was also rattling at hot engine not only on cold!) so I decided to try and place 2x oil pressure check valves and that fixed my issue, whenever I started the car I couldn’t ever hear that rattle again! 2 weeks later of driving like that, after a 10km drive, I parked my car without turning the ignition off, because I heard a strange sound (like the famous rattle sound, but nonstop) coming out of the engine and exactly from where the upper tensioners are… Whenever I am driving the car and reving it (not much, ofcourse) the noise is gone! So the noise only persists when the car is idle! Then I started searching and checking every possible forum out there, and so on… I found that some prople had this problem and fixed it by performing from 1 to 2 engine flushes… My question is should I try doing this or just go ahead and change the tensioners (its a lot of work, as you probably know) For the protocol, my car is s4 b8.5 currently at 160,000km, I hope some of you can give me an advice, anything will be appreciated, thanks in advance!

For the people who have a similar problem like mine I will be explaining now and keeping you in touch about the problem… so I changed the oil with the french Yacco 5W-30 and after 4000kms the rattling became a fact… Before 2 days I performed an engine flush and the oil which came down was dark green to purpleish or something like that (more like milk & cookies) so whatsoever I put in Ravenol 5W-30 and when I first ran the car there was no sign of that rattle at all, we used a stethoscope to double check and hear if the sound persists and it was totally gone and whatsoever its been 2 days without that rattle, I will be sure to make an update of the post for the people in the same sutiation as mine ( one info thread won’t do any harm) Cheers!
