Transport Blocks ... WHY does audi/VW use them?

So. After waiting 5 months. My new Prestige S4 arrived. The PDI hasn't been done as it just arrived last night. While looking at it in all it's High rise glory. I wondered , why does Audi/VW ship cars with these transport block in the suspension? Does anyone know ? I assume it's so shit heads don't rip the bumpers off loading and unloading... Does anyone have a better answer ? And boy oh boy. These things look gross this far off the ground. 🪜20230111_154044.jpg20230111_154030.jpg

Stiffens the suspension to decrease weight transfer while underway when wheel tie-downs are used. Also. to decrease spring compression during frame tie-down. Commonly used in vessel and rail transport.

I am stoked , Thanks ! It was an absolute pain to put my hands on this. It was ordered in August. I'm happy it's finally over. Last year for the B9 first year for District Green. Being Prestige it's just different enough to be special. At least to me. I've had 3 black S4's before this. I'll never miss those God damn water spots

Most low high end cars have them. I installed some on a new nsx a couple months ago before loading on the vessel.
Theres many internal ramps and if they were too low you’d rip the splitter off. Lol

I KNEW it had something to do with ride height as well. It's rough out there for low cars. Try driving in New England
