I’m thinking of eventually upgrading my S3 I bought new with 72K miles for an RS3. What are you guys getting quoted on wait times for new orders?

RS3 production is a disaster due to parts shortages. 2024 if you’re lucky. Never if you’re unlucky or too far down a dealer’s list.

Yep, it's sadly a complete unknown at this point. I had the first allocation at my dealer entered back in August for a December 2022 build, which was then pushed to an early March 2023 build, and now is pushed yet again until a late April/early May 2023 build.

Audi/VW dealer here, albeit a smaller one. We got one: GTI, R, and S3 when they were announced, and haven't had an allocation refill on any of them, let alone an RS3. :/

So VW dealers do get Audis in from time to time then, yea? When I got a call from the VW dealer last year saying “congratulations we have your car”, I was crushed when they told me it was the ID.4 that I ordered. I was momentarily so convinced in my head that a VW dealer had a RS3 for me, sounded ridiculous in hind sight but thats right where my mind went. Been dreaming of this car for far too long

you may get lucky and find a low mileage used 2022.

If you haven't put in an order yet, you WON'T get a new one till 2024

Order placed in August 2022 at multiple dealerships. As of today, i still have no allocation and if it does not get allocated by June, i anticipate my orders being cancelled and pushed to 2024 orders of which i may just cancel all of them at that point.

There’s zero chance you’ll get an allocation before MY2024-25. It’s just a total unknown at this point.

We sell both brands, and they both seem to have similar allocation processes. It's tricky because we USUALLY do not get a specific car model unless we sell one which is dumb. If someone wants an A7 for instance and we dont have one, they tell us we have to sell one first. Well how do we sell one first if we do not have that car model in the first place? Thinking you're getting an RS3 call then it being an ID.4 must've been a gut punch lol

As off 10 minutes ago when I posted this:
    https://www.audizine.com/forum/showt...if-you-ordered

It was leaked to me over the phone by a manager but it is not official through Audi but soon will be. It shouldn't be a deterrent as there are many other car brands and models affected. It sucks but you just have to wait longer. VTEC Yoooo for me for a few more months for the meantime.

Plus I read that all the RS3s in Europe are sold out. I don't know if you can interpret that as truly being sold out or simply the dealers not accepting orders at this time. It is a tough time to own certain types of cars. Last night I went to E90POST and I looked into what suppose to be my "plan b" or "optional car" and the M2 is far far out as well with BMW saying that they are giving priority marketing to their electric cars and that is not to say that they probably have the same issues with allocating parts for their M2.

No, vw dealers only get vw. Most vw dealers also own a vw franchise though. Each store, ordering, inventory for cars, exists in its own

Current wait times on new RS3 orders

You will not see a 2023 if ordered now. There’s a fair chance you also wouldn’t see it as a 2024 either. I’ve posted about the ongoing delays since ordering began. They are in a sad state. The only cars that may come, and they will be few and far between, will be preconfigured cars that audi USA brings in. You won’t see customer ordered cars unless that order mirrors what Audi USA directly ordered

Audi handled 2022-2023 horribly. You could not have asked for them to be worse. What should have happened was suspending all ordering, for anything. That would have allowed them to build the max # of cars per model. Instead, they told the dealers to handle it…which is how you end up with 32 people on a wait list for a car no dealer will have 12 of in a given model year. They totally screwed the pooch.

It's not just Audi. I had ordered a 22 zl1 and waited months with no build happening. They eventually switched me over to a 23 order. I waited 4 months on that before finally giving up and luckily finding what I wanted on a dealer lot. I got it without cooled seats and parking sensors (they're there, but not working due to the chip shortage), so I have to wait for that to be retrofitted/completed. That has been since June.

Guess getting a used Porsche or Maserati or something might have to fill the void.

Being honest, I'd actually rather have a new Ducati V4 SP2 so not having a new car would be offset by the pure sex of this new Ducati added to my small collection.

Guess I was REALLY lucky (and that's so not me). I ordered my RS3 August 1 and the dealer thought maybe 6 - 9 months, although they were in the dark on that from what I could tell. Sales person called me in November saying one that was allocated to their dealership just landed and did I want it? It was almost exactly the same spec I ordered except no Carbon package. So I said done and done. I thought it was great the sales person remembered me and called me up, remembering my spec.

You were very fortunate indeed, given the dozen or so potential Audi RS 3 buyers I've been approached by, asking where I bought our 2019 RS 3, who complained about the lack of accurate info when they could actually expect to take an RS 3 home? Too many missed dates given and quite a bit of wasted time for quite a few people trying to purchase an RS 3!

I do hope Audi gets this resolved, by at least having ACCURATE delivery info soon!

do you own a 8Y? if not, you can't compare. I had the 8V for 2 years and the 8Y for 6 months..... but different to some would be fair I guess

I'm personally starting to lose hope I'll see my RS3 this year. I was part of the first wave of allocations in August. Tentative eta of Dec initially but sales rep said my AE color sill likely push it back. They pushed it back to April. After some time, they pushed it to June, then July, now August.

I stopped by my old job at BMW and asked about the order situation for M3s, and low and behold they have an unspoken for allocation they'd give me at MSRP. Tentative eta of April but I'd likely go Individual so add another 12 weeks. Only issues is justifying the extra 20k. I think it's 20k more car but I'm probably not in a situation to make the jump up unfortunately.

^I’m about to put down a deposit on an M2 today. I’m being told about an 18mo wait, which is fine. The “we have no idea” responses from my regional Audi dealerships has me uneasy about planning an RS3 purchase. The original plan was to upgrade the S3 with the RS3, but if there is no news on RS3 allocations, then I need to look at other options and everything cool requires a wait time.

Just an fyi, if a dealership tells you 18 months, they also "have no idea", their sales folks are just better trained on how to communicate that hypothetical date to customers. Secondly, the "new" M2 weighs as much as the current M4, shes not fit and trim ;-)

Yes, the situation with Audi not really telling people what the actual
deliver time is for an RS 3 is terrible. I've been approached by several
people this week while at our gas station (Sunoco 93 Octane) asking
who they should contact at the Audi HQ? I told them not to waste
their time as I've tried this and still haven't herad from anybody yet!

Not even a note saying my message was received and somebody will
be in touch soon. I don't know what's happened at Audi, but it sure
isn't good at all! And even my dealer has no info!

We love our Audi RS 3 performance, now at 43,462 miles of which
31,269 miles have been very fast country back roads, typically 3
days a week as weather permits. But being available to help Audi
buyers appears to be not working at all!
    -Rod

A pic of our Audi is here at https://www.audizine.com/gallery/sho...r-2019&cat=500 running Neuspeed RSe10 18x8.5 wheels and 245/40/18 Michelin All Season 4 that protect us from bad back raod surface faults, which killed the original 235/35/19 tire configuration in two days! A great vehicle indeed, delivering great performance now in my 66th year of fast country back roads driving, after everybody else has gone to work.

My automotive background is here if you're interested. https://www.mye28.com/tech/rods_pages/ Takecare and drive safe.

At least they are getting AND communicating allocations.
Secondly, the M2 with carbon roof and 6 speed (how I’d spec the car) is 3762lbs. Barely 100lbs more then the RS3.
And neither car is as light as my 992.

Secondly, the M2 with carbon roof and 6 speed (how I’d spec the car) is 3762lbs. Barely 100lbs more then the RS3.
And neither car is as light as my 992.
It's actually a bit more than 100lbs as you have to carry around all the ugly that goes with it, so like 500lbs all said and done.

The complete black front end of the RS3 is the worst styling element of both cars. Reminds me of the all black face of a pug. Now I can’t unsee it. An all black RS3 fixes that, but I won’t buy another black car on purpose. The second worst styling element on both cars is the M2 rear bumper. Looks are all subjective and to each their own, but I think we can all agree that a Civic is uglier then both cars.

I say this as a guy who is not really an Audi fanboy and was inch close to buying an OG M2 instead of this car… I have always thought BMWs were better looking cars than Audis. However the new M2 is an ugly car. Full stop. So is the G80 for that matter. The original M2 was infinitely more attractive.

There were enough sold that they will pop up on the used market here and there. I was lucky and found the exact spec I ordered with 1400 miles on it. I paid $5K over MSRP and have over 6K miles on the car already. Its an incredible car for the money so I was ok paying over MSRP. Does anyone know how many made it to the states? Is there a place to look up the numbers by color?

I am in Oregon and contacted every dealer in WA, OR, CA, ID, and UT and had two orders with two of them one was $2500 over MSRP. I was starting to believe that the orders would not happen any time soon and I wanted a car to autocross this season. A dealer in CA contacted me after an allocation/ spec car, came in and the woman buying it found out that her credit was compromised and could not purchase it. I jumped on it for $5,000 over MSRP and am extremely happy I did. This is the first time I paid over MSRP for any car but at this time in history it was worth it to me. From everything I have been reading, orders are not be filled. If you want one this year, check every dealer and buy one of their allocations. I bought it in November and still working on the break in with just under 500 miles now. Stupid cold, snowy weather here in central Oregon.

Nice color, what is it called? Our 2019 RS 3 in Nardo Gray, but your 'blue'
color is very nice indeed. Good luck with your RS 3 and I hope it serves
you well, as much as ours has now at 43,579 miles, of which 31,377
miles have been fast country back road runs on Michelin Pilot Sport
    AS3+ 245/40/18 on Neuspeed RSe10 18x8.5 wheels. The stock 19"
wheel/tire configuration was pretty poor setup. Have fun and good luck.

I was fortunate to get my '23 tango red 8Y in a couple of months and I didn't even order it - just in the right place at the right time with the right dealer. No markup either. Very fun car - came from a ZL1

When are they going to unlock the ECU? Maybe never?
