Does anyone know if it’s possible to replace the back part of the drivers seat?

    Hey all,

Is it possible to replace the back part of the drivers seat? Or the bottom cushion part? Does it come apart on the hinge bit? Which ever is easier.

For my A4 B6 1.8T heated front seats. Have one seat in the car with a worn side bit from getting in and out. And have another drivers seat with good back section but whole from cigarette butt on bottom cushion.

So would love to know if it comes apart on the hinge bit so I can swap over either back or bottom seat pad.

    Thanks heaps

I believe they do, not sure how but I’ve seen seat bottoms and seat backs for sale on eBay. At least with s4 seats. But of course they must come apart

Yes you can swap out the entire back from one and put it on the other as long as it’s from the same side of the car. It’s 4 torx bolts and a bunch of wiring to fish through the hinge. Just go slow. There are a few push pins and clips to get the plastic covers off. You have a spare so if you break one, you’ll know how to do it with the remaining one.

You can also swap bottom cushions with a passenger seat. You will need to cut holes for the electronics but if you are going from driver’s side to driver’s side, you don’t need to remove the cushion. You can just swap bases. But if you are taking one from a good passenger seat, you will need to remove the skin and cushion from the donor seat and cut holes. Just compare it to the one you are removing and slice it open. It’s all hidden with the plastic covers so you don’t see any of it.
