    S3 battery concern

I'm concerned about the battery in my 18 S3. Daily use, everything is fine. If I park & turn ign on for 10 min to check my dashcam, I get a low battery warning on my dash. If I don't ck the dashcam, all is well. I was thinking about getting a power pak, but I'm wondering if this is a sign to just spring for a new battery. Opinions please.

Both my OE S3 batteries lasted 3 years each...so if yours in a 2018 and its freezing where you live...ya might want to seriously consider replacing the battery

Will I need to program a new battery? Is glass matt the way to go, or just get a regular battery from Costco?

Yes, you'll need to program in the new battery. If you're using the START/STOP function, you'll need something that's made for it, like an AGM or an EFB. Whatever you pick, make sure it has an "Ah" rating as you'll need it to program in the new battery. I just went through this last month - see this thread for more info => https://www.audizine.com/forum/showt...ttery-question

I want to report a robbery: Went to local shop, they called supplier. They said dealer only because a new battery has to be programmed. Called dealer. Batt-$295.00, programming-$322.00 = $617.00 Yikes. Audi much closer than VW.

617 bucks for a new battery, installation and coding is a real theft
probably no more than half the cost from an indie, and 1/3 buying an aftermarket AGM battery from Amazon or so and installing/coding by yourself

The dealer doesn't always even 'program' it. I know because I replaced a formerly dealer replaced battery with an identical battery but I did it myself. The old battery was 'coded' incorrectly.

BTW, at $322 for programming, you can buy a vcds for $200 and be able to code a battery to 3 different cars (+ do a lot more). The coding is literally selecting letters or numbers from 2 drop down menus (battery type and amps) and then inputting the battery serial number. The shop can do the battery replacement and then you can drive car home and 'program' it. Nothing bad will happen. The dealer replaced battery that was coded incorrectly lasted almost 4 years for me.
