Anyone done a rear muffler delete on the B9.5

    Thoughts...?

I removed the rear mufflers from my B8 and gave the car a really nice sound... Of course the B8 didn't have a valved exhuast so not sure of the ramifications of deleting the rear mufflers...

I want to replace my exhaust tips but also am not looking to spend $3k for tips and some sound...

It's super loud and not that great sounding (search on YouTube and there's a few videos of straight piped S5's).

Please excuse my naivety, but I wasn't aware that the B9.5 S5 has a valved exhaust. I'm aware that the B9.5 RS5 exhaust does but have never seen documentation stating it is a standard feature, or even an option, on the 2023 S5. The only option I for the latter is the ~$900 "sound enhancing resonator exhaust" Part 8WO-071-904. Am I wrong?

It does. There's a valve controller that opens and closes 3 of the 4 pipes.

Well that's a nice surprise! I wasn't able to convince the wife that the sound enhancing exhaust resonator option was worth the extra expense, so I'll take whatever I can get at this point LOL! I recall adding a manual valve control switch on our 2004 MkIV R32 for the extra sound and she wasn't overly happy about that! I don't suppose that there's a VCDS or other hack to manually operate the S5's valve yet, or is there?

The sound enhancing exhaust option is just slightly smaller front resonators. Just do it aftermarket and get rid of them. It will sound better anyway. I don't believe there is any way to control the valve behaviour through VCDS, however you could get a CETE valve controller and have full control of them through an app.

Factory mufflers are valved…if you crawl underneath you can see them easily.

For midpipes/resonators, I recommend the integrated engineering units…no cutting involved, easy-ish install.

I've decided to either black out the factory tips or figure out someway to cut the tips off and replace with a more aggressive looking tip...

The sound is "good enough" for my needs as it is with the Audi Sport Resonator kit...
