Need help picking wheels for rs3

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Alright folks I can't make up my mind. I am torn between 034, apex, and bbs wheels for my rs3. Just curious to hear feedback from anyone that has any of the three I mentioned. TIA and have a great day!

    Top to bottom:
    -Apex sm10 18x9 et42
    -BBS RF 18x8.5 +38 forged
    -ZTF-01 18x9.3 ET42 forged1673130364311.jpg

If it’s going to see street use go with Apex’s. Spend the $ saved on better tires.

I was going to run Michelin PS4s no matter what I picked. However I've decided to snag the 034 wheels because they are forged, possibly later I'll snag the apex and throw snow tires on em for the winter.

    Thanks for the reply

I just bought the SM-10s. I think the BBS are a bit narrow, 255 will bulge a bit.

but if you go with 18x9s you end up with a 35 series tire right? so the focus is weight savings over a 19? wouldnt a 18x8.5 let you run a 245/40 to pick up some sidewall/ride comfort? and yes i know all tires are different and a 245/40 might or might not be stretched on the 9" wheel depending on who you go with.

Thanks gents! Bilstein PSS10 coilovers, can still drop quite a bit if want to but it’s a daily. Had to use the mag ride cancellers, my struts were blown and didn’t want to pay for OEM that will fail again.

Apex wheels are great! Lots of track features, great wheel replacement program, and STRONG. I recently hit a massive pothole that bent my front strut but my wheels were fine!

I am running Neuspeed RSe10 18x8.5 fitted with Michelin 245/40/18 Pilot Sport AS3+, soon
to be replaced with new Michelin 245/40/18 Season 4, as the AS3+ have been discontinued.

Mileage has been a total of 43,462 of which 31,269 was fast country back road mileage,
typicall made at 80-100 miles per run, 10am to 2pm only on Tues, Weds, Thurs only
when other traffic is practically nill. Monday and Fridays along with weekend traffic
    is too cluttered. FWIW.

Is there actually a PSS10 kit that is made for the RS3?

Bilstein lists Part Number 48-251570 for our cars for the PSS10 kit. The kit is designed for the fixed suspension cars and will likely require DCC cancellers in order to use with cars with Mag-Ride.

The RF in the photo are my car. Shot was 18x8.5 on 245/40/18 on 034 springs. I have since gone back to stock height.

I want a little more clearance for the wheel well to tire. What size should I downsize to? Is a 235/35/18 the next step down?

you where rubbing with a 18x8.5 et 38 with a 245/40 tire? im surprised, thats a pretty safe spec even when really low. If you felt compelled to change the tire, id stick with the 245/40 just go with one thats a little more on the narrow side, i use Tire Racks "tread width" measurement in their "specifications" tab. it tells you roughly how wide a tire will be when mounted up on a given width wheel, helps you picture if the tire sits, square, bulge, or stretched.

Its not rubbing. I just drive with more load on average. Suitcases and passengers. I took off the springs to give more clearance over bad roads.

Was wondering what the next smallest size was to create more room. I like the ps4s and will most likely stick with it.

235/40/18 would be your ticket then, generally speaking
