Hello, have an issue where I’d like to scan my car before taking to the dealer. What would any of you recommend in the way of a reasonably priced scanner? Would be great if it could also work on my 2022 BMW M3, but that’s not mandatory. Thanks,Jim

For VAG cars I suggest OBD11 - does everything - even coding and adaptions.

OBDEleven has also started adding support for BMW vehicles as well

If you're just looking to scan for a code, and not necessarily recode, a cheap way I've done in the past was to go to autozone and request to borrow their reader. I haven’t done this in years since I bought my own obd11, so I don't know if they still allow that.

Thanks for the suggestions.I’m far enough from dealers that I just ordered a Foxwell 650 with adapter cord. If nothing else if it ends up a trip to the dealer, at least I might have some idea of how long car might be out of service.

Good luck with the Foxwell. Let us know how it works for you; I just got one and discovered I need a B.S. in 1's and 0's VAG coding to decipher the damned thing let alone reset Inspection Due. Expensive paper weight at this point....

So-got the Foxwell, updated it and used it and no codes showed, which is good. Before using it I thought I’d print out a list of possible codes. Then I realized how many codes there can be and concluded that if there is a code write it down and then look it up on the web.

Does OBDEleven do anything that an iCarsoft CR Pro or CR Max doesn't do?
