I've had issues with my 2.0T quattro before, but this one stumped me.
I got home from work and parked her in the garage, shut it off. Went to start it 20 minutes later, I put it into reverse started backing out then the engine shut off. Odd. Started it up then it immediately died. Then, just for good measure, started it a third and it was running pretty rough, rpms were bouncing up and down, then shut off. Decided to leave it at that in fear of damaging something. I hear the electric in-tank fuel pump working just fine. Also, battery is 4 years old however when I was cranking to start it was at normal speed, and did not crank slowly. At first site, you might be thinking coil packs or something with fuel delivery, well, please read this list of stuff that I have replaced on this B7: The only code I got was P310B Low Pressure Fuel Regulation. I have gotten this for months, tho. These have been all performed within the past 20k. I also try not to cheap out on parts as these cars can be sensitive to aftermarket parts.
In-tank low pressure fuel pump
High pressure fuel pump (engine driven)
Fuel pump control module
Fuel filter
Vacuum pump
Bosch coil packs (less than 5k on them)
NGK spark plugs (less than 5k on them)
I am thinking the alternator is the culprit, but the car drove perfectly fine on the 25 minute drive before she quit, zero indications of the problems that laid ahead. (no dim bulbs, battery lights, etc.) I just got vcds last week and I want to learn it, seems like the car is eager to use it as well. I would love to hear if anyone has an inclination as to what is happening. As usual, thanks for your comments and Happy New Year!
