    Interior door lock

May be a silly question but when i exit the Q5 and try and hit the lock button it does nothing. I have to use the key fob to lock the door on exit.

is this designed to do this for some reason or am i missing something?

    Thanks,

I've always just locked this car after the door is closed, pressing the door handle (if you have advanced key) or the key fob. The inside lock button on the front doors is deactivated if any of the doors are open. A VW thing, a German thing, a Euro thing, not sure which.

Strange that’s it’s there and doesn’t work. Always found it more convenient to to be able to press a door lock on the way out. Would be nice if the door handle lock was working but currently it’s not.

Probably just an intended failsafe thing. If the door is closed, then the key is authoritatively inside or outside the car. Otherwise, you could open the door, lock it, have the key fall inside, then close the door, and lock yourself out. Never had that happen myself, but I guess maybe some German did it some day. And now we have "safer" logic.
