    Best tires for Rs7?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So the rs7 finally got delivered and wow what a vehicle! However my front driver tire is damn near bald lol. Do I need to replace all 4 tires? Back tires are good even the front passenger side is decent. I’ve had an A7 and S7 and I’ve definitely driven with new tires in different areas on the vehicle and the Quattro had no issues. Let me know!

    Current tires are continentals

Replacing all four, depends on how much tread is left on the back ones, and should also consider what the MFG date/DOT code is.

Conti's are a good tire (what model specifically do you have?) and many people run them year round as a good performance A/S tire. Since you are in NY, not sure if you are swapping wheels/tires for the winter/summer seasons... if not, stick with a good A/S; Conti DWS or Michelin AS3 are the typical leading choices.

If you can only replace two, stick to the same mfg

I run Conti on my RS7 and they’re great so highly recommend. Great value for the performance you get out of them. Believe my current set is the contact sports. Michelins for the R8 but been doing Contis on the sedans the last few rounds.

Congrats on the new ride. I have three thoughts to share. First, if you’re going to run all season tires, I’d consider reading up on the Michelin PS AS4 in addition to the Conti’s. We’ve got a set of the PS AS4 on my wife’s Q for 3 seasons’ use and they’re really impressive (quiet, sticky, and handle water well). If you’re using separate summer and winter gear, the Michelin PS 4S is a fantastically fun summer tire, and you’ll have plenty of good winter options in 20” size. Finally, as a reminder, if you have uneven tire wear, you may want to make sure alignment and suspension are dialed in when replacing tires to maximize useful life and enjoy a “perfect” ride.

By the way, no disrespect meant to Continental. We currently have two sets in our household and have had many in the past. They’ve all been very good!

Thanks for the info man i'll keep that in mind. I did however just pickup 2 continentals from tirerack. Also just ordered new brake pads just incase. The stopping power wasn't too great and I know the rotors only had about 10k miles on them when I purchased them. I'm assuming the stopping power wasn't good due to the front tires being so shot. We'll see though

It's crazy because the s Coupe is soooo different that it gave me a little bit of buyers remorse. However I know for a fact I couldn't live without certain things. The s class coupe is pure luxury though. This is just different luxury in a much different way and is a beast! I still think i'll try merc again in the future definitely interested in the s580

Gotcha I didn't figure which model I had till later but it ended up being correct after I ordered the continentals anyway.

Good news. Hopefully, you won't even need the new pads with new rubber up front. Would like to hear your opinion compared to Merc after you've got a few miles on the RS.

    Enjoy the new luxury beast!

If you bought this from a used or new car dealer, you should contact them about the tires. I had my car delivered with cracked tires and tread depth lower than what's acceptable. The dealer bought me new tires after expressing that they shipped the car with unsafe tires. It was a used luxury/exotic car dealership out of Texas so I was impressed because they could have easily just ghosted me. Worth a try.

I may consider this however they gave me such a good deal on my S coupe(needed to trade it in to get into the new vehicle) that Idk if they actually would do that for me. I could ask though but I'm not salty over it as I expect to buy new tires/brakes anyway.

I'll keep you posted for sure after I put about 500-1k miles but SO FAR, This thing is a joy and the bose sound system that comes with it compared to the base burmester on the s coupe is just so much better and louder. The s coupe is really luxurious but the tech is so slow and small things just pissed me off. The biggest thing was not being able to turn off climate control with 1 button, you have to go through the infotainment and hit like 3-4 buttons to do that lol. However it's just different luxury. The rs7 is a beast and luxurious somewhat... The s class was just a luxury monster with some good power the tech was just outdated.

Congratulations on the new whip man! I have the DWS+ tires and they are nice. Have pilot sports as3 on the q5. I like them more so far so may try the 4s when it’s time for new tires on the s7.

The s4 manual stated you want the tires to be working 2/32 of each other for the Quattro system to work 100% properly. Maybe check that out in your car manual.

Enjoy her! Would love driving one in the future.

Congrats on your RS7. When I got mine it had the factory Contis which were fine but went with the Pilot 4s. I'm in CA so don't need all season tires. I really like the feel of the Michelins. The car feels sportier if that's possible. First time I have had Pilots. Enjoy your ride.

Michelin Pilot Sport 4S, hands down. Best tire out there.

I tried buying a set back in November through a local supplier and they couldn't find 275/30/21 in stock. I'm sure they're out there though, well worth the search!

I feel you bro. The S coupe is definitely unique. Mercedes is more luxury than sport. I still want one, I plan on tuning it. But i appreciate the insight, you got me rethinking. I may have to just simply stack up enough so I can get an S coupe and keep the s6. Not in a rush to get rid of the S6 at all. Im glad you got the car that fits you better welcome to the C7 Fam

    Replacing 1 vs 2 vs 4 tires.

Audi quattro system will handle up to 4/32 of an inch tread depth difference between all 4 tires. You might be able to just replace the 1 tire for now. If you go with a brand that is not like the other 3 that is fine provided the speed ratings are the same. Running mixed speed ratings is not a good approach. Age of tires is a factor as well. Some tire shops will not repair anything older than about 4 years. Most tires manufactures say not to use if they are older than 6 years while Michelin and Continental give an age limit of 10 years. I have in the past ran Michelins on our RV that were older than 10 years but my fear was having a blow out every time I took it somewhere. Got new skins now so no more pucker factor for now.

Summer and winter sets vs all seasons. A lot depends on where you live and what your weather conditions will be. If you are going to drive it in the New York winters then you might consider having a set of dedicated snow tires if you have the space to store an extra set of wheel/tire combos.

Appreciate the insight bro. I just bought 2 summer conti's for the front and have summer conti's in the back I live in NY. However if it's snowing I will not be going anywhere for sure. I bought them from tirerack and they only had summer options for the most part anyway which was weird.

It's good to be back bro! I would say go try and drive it and see if you even like it that much. But a 2018-2019 model is a must. Those 2015-2017 models have the same infotainment platform while the 2018s+ are updated for sure. I think I also got rid of the car because of lack of practicality. It looks amazing but having a coupe ain't all that fun when I need to quick throw some ish in the back seat then grab it out 15 mins later. Always just the small things I guess. It's a pricey car and I always believe if you're going to buy something very expensive you better love it or damn near. I didn't have that feeling with the coupe but the rs7 I cant stop looking at it everytime I get out the car
