How much oil do you burn per 1,000 miles?
Do you currently just live with it?
Do you plan on rebuilding it (piston ring job)
Asking because my stage 2 2009 A4 burns no oil (was repaired via Audi during lawsuit) but I recently got a 2015 Q5 that seems to burn what looks to be a quart or so every 3k miles (I imagine it gets worse?)
I love the Q5 and I plan on keeping it for awhile since it has low miles for a used older SUV (under 60k) and it drives like a dream.
I have a B8.5 with the CPMB motor. It burned a quart per every 200 miles for about 30,000 miles. I ran some LiquiMoly Jectron through a tank of gas. It improved to a quart every 400 miles. I'm gonna run Liqui Moly Engine Flush with my next oil change. My buddy has a CPMA that burned a quart every 600 miles, after the Jectron and then the engine flush, his improved to a quart every 1500. The oil burning in these cars is caused by piston rings getting clogged with sludge as a result of relief holes that are too small to let the oil seep down into the crankcase when they get just a little dirty. There's nothing inherently wrong with the way the engine itself is built or put together. I don't intend to rebuild this engine, but I do intend to drive it till it dies (which hopefully won't be for another few years). If I were you I'd try out this stuff; My car has over 205,000 miles on it and still runs great. I don't see why yours won't if you just keep adding oil and take care of it. There are some people who will disagree with me and they are rightfully concerned, but I don't have the time or money to completely rebuild the engine on a high mileage car I use just for transportation, especially if it functions perfectly fine while burning some oil.
