Hard Start/No Power

2012 A4, 2.0L, manual transmission.

Finished a K04 turbo install and got an IE K04 tune a couple weeks ago.

Was running pretty good. I got a couple new errors soon after.

Oil pressure regulating valve p164E (ordered, not installed yet)
Intake manifold flap p2004/P2015.00
Haven't replaced it yet. I can't see any obvious leaks.

Could either of those cause a hard start?
When I push the keyfob, the car cranks for a split second then stops. I can force it to continue by holding the key to crank.

I would resolve all your errors first then determine if you have problems still. A lot of things on this engine are driven by oil pressure. The runner flaps are a known problem on these cars. I would take the IM off, clean all the carbon out, grease the actuator, verify the actuator works and see what you get. You are suppose to press the key fob in and hold it till the car starts.

I ended up replacing the camshaft position sensor and the starter/function works correctly now. You do NOT have to hold the key fob to start. It was as I thought, that you push it momentarily, and the car attempts to start the car however long that takes.

Unfortunately, I have thrown a bunch of parts at the car now and still haven't made much headway.

On earlier VCDS scans I had errors for;
oil pressure regulator switch - replaced - error cleared.
high voltage - alternator replaced - error cleared.
cam and crank correlation - cam and crank sensors replaced - error does not appear any longer.

Unfortunately - the car just cranks until you cancel it now.

I checked the low pressure fuel line to see if the electric pump is working. I got about 200 ml from the line when the car cycled the fuel pump.

I am not sure how best to check/test the ignition/spark system.

Im no expert but the codes in addresses 17 & 19 are concerning. Have you double-checked your connections at the battery? How old is the battery? I see you replaced the alternator, did you get an OEM part or an autoparts store one?

Smac and others are better versed with this kind of issue but the can gateway error and ECM code are concerning.

Alternator was a rebuild from Remy. The battery is probably 4-5 years old.

I would get into the trunk and confirm that your battery connections are good and not corroded. I would also check the ECU box located under the cowl on the driver's side. Is there any water or corrosion in the ECU box?

Finally, I would double-check all of your work, ensure everything is plugged in correctly, and that your harness grounds are good.

Just a guess for now, but it looks like a wire harness is disconnected, or that a rodent has chewed through a wire harness somewhere. The rodent thing happens surprisingly often on these cars - there is even a TSB published. The little gnaw machines hit my car twice in 12 years. The first time was up front near the a/c compressor, the second time was in the back which triggered TPMS, wheel speed sensor, ABS and a couple of other codes. Finding if such a thing has occurred only takes a careful visual inspection, but a multi-meter/continuity tester could come in handy.
