    Alternator issues question

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I read in one of the other posts that alternator issues "could" be related to the date of build. It was stated it might be pre December 2020. If anyone here that has had the Alt issue could post their build date that would let us see if there is a trend. I havent had the issue as of yet but as my car was delivered in Dec 2020 my build date is prior to that and could be a ticking time bomb...good thing I just turned 5k miles.

I don't think it's build date related TBH. There are some 22s with the issue. The TSB keeps getting updated with more MYs. Anything with the 48V 4.0T looks to be at risk right now.

TSB calls for checking an "ambient value" for the 48V system. If it is 5, replace generator then do a software update on the corresponding control module. If the value is not 5, just do the software update. The part numbers haven't changed (some variation based on Audi model...last letter IIRC. RS6/7/Q8 part number ends in R I believe).

There is some doubt the dealer will do this as preventative even if the customer offers to pay out of pocket if the TSB conditions are not met (certain stored codes or symptoms).

yeah I just got mine back for the 2 year service and asked if they had any tests they could run and they said no...Hearing that not just prior to dec 2020 is what I was looking for as well. Guess we just ride till it pops. Thanks for the replies
