    Some maintenance questions...

So I've had my 2019 SQ5 for a month now. I am planning on getting all the maintenance up to snuff. I will be doing plugs, brake fluid, and coolant at minimum.
Should I be doing transmission fluid, rear diff, and transfer case too? The car has 48k on the ticker.
What other services should I be looking into?

    Cheers

Yes, do transmission fluid and filter, rear diff, and transfer case.

Why? Audi maintenance schedule does not call for that.

You're right, but ZF the transmission manufacturer says: "it does need to be changed at 50 to 60k miles." You replace the tranny-pan when you do this because the filter is built into it.

Interesting! Wonder why Audi would not follow the manufacturer recommendations? Especially when it means service revenue for them.

I’m pretty sure ZF says 70-80k. Not 50-60k.

Oh okay, the 50 to 60k mile change could have been if you track it or pound it hard on the street!

Over on AudiWorld we cannot figure out why Audi dealers will not touch the tranny, despite that being easy $$ for them!

For factory recommended maintenance intervals enter your VIN here: https://maintenance.audiusa.com/#/search. At least for my VIN (2021 SQ5 w/Sport Diff), I don't see any recommendation for fluid change for engine coolant, transmission, t-case or differential out to 240k miles (major service is every 40k miles). FWIW, I only ever follow the factory-recommended intervals. The last three vehicles I had (averaging 160k-180k miles each, albeit all Japanese) and never a problem with a radiator, engine, transmission, t-case or differential.

I'd double check the procedures to see if it's viable for DIY as IME some fluid changes can be a monumental PITA if not simply impossible. For example, the last vehicle I had, a transmission/t-case fluid change required a dealer-only pigot (no dip stick or fill plug), a fluid flush to get the fluid out of the torque converter (so ginormous amounts of fluid, and the right machine to both supply and remove fluid simultaneously), the fluid had to be at a certain temp for the specified fill level, and required a dealership diag tool to do it all. The process could probably be hacked I'm sure, but not worth it IMO, especially on lifetime fluid.

Modern coolant is easily good for 5 or 6 years and will be changed if and when a water pump and/or a thermostat gets changed.
Can be tricky for some to get the air out of the system without the factory tool or similar when refilling. Can do more harm than good, think no heat or overheating.

I like to use a needle style adapter to sneak some synthetic grease into the front end rubber booted joints to replenish them and extend their life.

Actually I found the source and I was wrong, that 70k was in kilometers. So it is actually 50-60k miles.

It's in the first 30 seconds - ZF says 8 years or 80,000 kilometers
