Tracing an issue i have with the front acc radars.. i get no communication whn scanned with vcds. Lookes at the wiring on the sensors and right side had broken wire, fixed but issue still present. May have to replace the connectora.
Anyone have a diagram of how to wire them.?? Found a diagram but doesnt show which pins each wires connects to.

    Thanka

Could you provide a vcds scan or similar of the modules? Otherwise it’s hard to suggest anything.

I get no communication. I have a full scan in my other ACC post. But here is the scan just for modules 13 and 19.

Scan is showing its lost comms with the right acc sensor. main loom comes from left and then branches off from left side to the right. Pin nos are shown in your 1st diagram. Check for corrosion on the pins in the plug and acc sensor

Take a voltmeter and try to check if there’s any significant resistance in the wire.. did you check the fuse (although morski says it branches out from the other radar)? I went crazy fixing my exhaust valve issues.. turned out in the end that it was a fuse problem.

I did check the fuses.. manual shows fuse 7 and 11 on driver side holder A, but the wiring diagram above shows fuse 7 and 11 in Holder B..??

In my case with the exhaust valves I could not trust the manual, I has to resort to elsawin, to find the correct fuse. Elsawin would be the most correct information.

Made huge progress.. i bipassed the pigtail connectors and both sensors are back online.. clear all fault codes.. all seem to be good.

Removed one of the connector adaptor and pin 8 is missing on one of them.. not sure if i can find that piece as it part of the sensor but removal. Sounds good, don’t forget to have the sensors recalibrated after removing them, it could be that they no longer work properly. After all, they sre also used for the front assist.

I think its all fixed now.. took a drill put a small hole on the X where pin 8 was, thn tool a wire, fished it through from bottom and attached it directcly to pin 8 on the other side. Got 2 new pigtail connect plugs and rewired them.
No more code and i dont think it need calibration. All working.. i figured if you dont move the adjustement screws on the sensor and it seat on the same spot on the bumper, thn all should be good.

Thanks all for the inputs. Appreciate the help.

Possible to correct Acc alignment manually without going to dealer?

    Yes... calibration... very important!!

When improperly adjusted (by the dealer) they will occasionally mistake an oncoming car in a turn for a stopped car and hit the brakes hard!!! REALLY HARD!!! The ACC, fighting the Assist, fighting the ABS... it was a unique experience! The tech that re-calibrated it said they were a bit off!

I unmounted mine one time and the car had some ACC faults for a week or so regarding where it simply refused to start or stopped mid drive, then it seemed to correct itself. Maybe it has a auto-calibrate of sorts... maybe something just settled down or reseated.

I lean towards a proper calibration now... luckily I got a freebie when they did the recall!

Either way, be really cautious when using it for a while. It nearly turned me end for end. Took a lot of miles to trust it again!

    Cheers,

    KLS

Hmmmmm.... If you have a car with a known good setup... a 3D printer and a little CAD... you could make a jig and align any car then! I saw the video on the process... it isn't that hard!

Would there be interest in a DIY alignment kit for ACC?

    Cheers,

    KS

OK... maybe all you need is OBD11?? https://youtu.be/SlmP7EBCtyI

Thanks. Did see that video before, and would work for a small adjustment. Both of mine are way off and would require alot of adjustment, reset, drive, check, adjust, reset, drive, check...repeat until they are both in correct misaligmnt tolerence range.

Anyone knows what the misaligment tolerences are?

So in that case, a jig would help to get you within striking distance of tolerance and then do the drive/check cycle till satisfied.

    Hmmmmm

The video makes it seem like 1% is somewhere near the limit as he has one at 0.8 and then 0.74 and says both are below the limit but he wanted better!

Service manual doesn't make mention of it. I wonder if ELSA does?

    Cheers,

Yes, it seems to throw a missaligment code when it goes over 1% and when its under 0.
Alot driving is require as those values keep on changing the more you drive.
I spent a day driving and adjusting to understand which away you turn the adjustement screw to make it go positive or negative number.. i then set them way off out of range ..then will start to lower then numbers, drive, and check..repeat times X times. Hope i get it right.

Check THISthread out...seems like with VCDS and some trial and error "calibration" is possible.
