    Car got flooded this weekend

Hey everyone...I could really use everyone's help. I live in NY in long island and this Friday my street got flooded. When the water finally rescinded I got water inside my car. The water came up above the tires. Now I have no power at all. Someone told me it's possible the fuse on the battery could have popped and I need to change the fuse. I'm already expecting that I have more damage than that. What do you guys think my next move should be besides calling the insurance company because I didn't have full coverage on the car (my stupidity). I guess I'm asking what's my worst case scenario and what am I looking at in repairs? Please guys I could really use y'all helpIMG-20221223-WA0001.jpg

Welp decide what you want to do pretty soon before the sucker dries. Might be useful for insurance and a shop to look at it to tell you whats wrong. What year and model? Also how much water got inside the car, how far up? Pictures? If insurance doesn't cover, want to minimize the bill, get working and buy a shop vac and a ton of distilled water. Remove the battery and dilute all the things soaked with distilled water and suck it up with the shop vac. Amazon a triple bolt square set to pull the seats out because you got electronics under them you may need to wash off if they got soaked. After that, start checking all the fuses. GL my friend

Also if you make a claim to insurance, you got to word it as the flood got into your car "When the water finally rescinded I got water inside my car. The water came up above the tires. Now I have no power at all.".

Edit: From the pic, looks like a Daytona gray A7, same as mine also indicate how far up in the inside pic

I'd be calling my insurance company and collecting a check for a new vehicle.

I believe flood is covered under comprehensive.

This is really good advice! Obviously do all this with the battery disconnected. Pure water is a terrible conductor and you can use it to wash electronics and flush out any contamination.

Let it dry really well. Get a damp basement absorber at Home Depot or Lowes and put that in there. It will absorb moisture from the air inside and help it dry out.

When someone says they do not have full coverage that almost always means collision only, no comprehensive.

liability only, collision and comprehensive are what 99% refer to as full coverage

My bad, you are right. Not enough coffee yet. I was meaning collision to cover the guy you hit, not collision to cover your own car. I should have said what you said, liability to the other guy only.

You are only going to waste your time calling insurance if you only have liability, they will most likely open a claim and even though a comprehensive claim should not affect rates it will still be another claim on your record only for them to tell you that there is no coverage for the loss.
