Ok... Who here has taken the blow up spare out of the car? Thing weights a ton and is literally worthless. Only reason I have it still in the car is to hold the sub!

Worthless meaning it doesn't hold air? I think having a spare of some sort is a good idea unless you never drive out of highly populated areas.

I tried inflating mine a few days ago and it would not hold air. Seems the bead is broken somewhere as I can hear/feel air escaping. So, yes, pretty worthless at this point. I am taking into the dealer and let them deal with it as I really would like a functioning spare tire.

Well that's not great. Is this a known defect?

The wife just had a flat this weekend, and Audi's tire inflating system is a bit cumbersome, but pretty idiot proof (I mean.. I did it haha). The spare is deflated to save weight and space. If it feels heavy time to start doing some push ups. But maybe I am just used to lugging around a 30lbs kiddo. Either way, it was light work.

YEP, had to use the spare a month ago. It looks funny (like it's not centered on the rim), but works fine. The OEM wheel was the heavy part. The tire repair guys did a temp fix, but the damage was enough to recommend a new tire. With 50k miles, that means 4 new tires, so used it as an excuse to get aftermarket rims :)

Had to use mine about a month ago. Pothole ripped inside sidewall... Come to find out the inflator they gave me is DOA. Will not power on. Tried in multiple vehicles. Luckily there was a car dealer in the next lot so rolled the spare over there to inflate. It looks ugly as sin and is heavier than it needs to be but I was glad to have it.

Also came to find out that I needed to replace all 4 tires anyway.. (at 10k miles )
