AWE non-resonated touring exhaust | clicking on startup

Recently had the AWE non resonated touring exhaust installed on my B9 RS5 Coupe and absolutely LOVE the way it sounds but am noticing the clicking noise on start up. In another thread a while ago a AWE rep mentioned 1-2 click if the valve simulators were installed properly but I am getting probably 30-40 clicks.

I was in a chat the other day with a AWE customer service rep and he had mentioned that the valve simulator brackets were side specific and that they may have been installed on the wrong side. Took it back to the shop and had them switch sides and it’s still doing it.

    Anyone else experiencing this?

Could I simply pull the fuse that controls the valves?

Thanks so much for your time and help.

I dunno about 30-40 but definitely more than 1 or 2. I don't let my car idle to "warm up", I just start driving so it never really bothered me.

What really is annoying are the rattles I get when decelerating--usually occur around 20-30mph at around 2-3k rpm. I've had the shit readjusted more times than I can count and it always comes back after a couple hundred miles.

Maybe just get a Bull-X resonator delete and CETE controller...

Had a resonator delete (just like the Bull-X) with the fuse removal trick prior to this and the AWE exhaust sounds 1000% better then that :)

It's definitely there...comes in just as the fumes comes out of the pipes. Hard to hear though cause the cold start with this system is LOUD :)

Well just had my exhaust installed today and I have the clicks as well. 20-30 clicks on startup then it goes away. I did purchase some Burger Tuning Exhaust Valve Flapper Bypass Plugs prior to the AWE and they worked. I just didn't like the sound of the stock exhaust. So when the raining stops around here I'll crawl under and reinstall them cause the AWE doesn't include bypass plugs.

Instead it includes a new bracket that you mount the value simulators too and still requires them to open and close. That's what all that clicking is, so annoying. The plugs completely cancel out the signal.

I have pulled the fuse to the flaps. I did talk to AWE customer service and they mentioned that the "clicking" really shouldn't happen if the simulators are installed correctly. He felt perhaps the simulator were defective and sent me two new ones with new pins. Will instal the new ones and see. But if it doesn't work, will definitely be buying the bypass plugs.

On another note, do you find a little bit of drone still? I have noticed it more when say going up a very slight grade, rpms around 2-2200 and a bit of gas. I know they have that 180 tech but it sounds basically the same as when I simply had a resonator delete.

As of right now I've only put 80 miles on her and because of the cold weather its damn loud and there is a slight drone, but I remember my S4 being the same way and it took a good 1000 miles before it finally broke in and sounded great after. Been driving my truck the rest of the week cause of all the rain out here and mudslides. I also couldn't really open it up cause it was pouring on the way back from the installers and I was only able to do 50 max on the freeways the whole way home.
