    Question Intake Sensor Removal Help

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hello!

The flapper sensor in my brand new S3 already went bad, I talked with the dealer and they were pretty much no help at all, saying they couldn't look at it for a few months so figured I would tackle it myself. I was able to get a replacement sensor and have some picks so was able to get the old one loose, however, I didn't realize the bracket in front of it is JUST in the way.

There are 2 bolts to the left, and the 1 bolt next to the sensor, I am thinking of removing the bolt next to the sensor and then one of the bolts to the left, then loosen the other.

It looks like the bracket is cut out just enough I can rotate it up a few mm to create room for the sensor removal.

Has anybody else tried this or found a better way to get it out (without removing the entire intake)?

    Thank you!

Issue with a brand new S3 under factory warranty and the dealership told you they are busy for a few months??

That's insane and would speak to the service manager and/or AudiUSA right away. Not acceptable.

The bracket looks to be in the way...what at the other end of that steel bracket? Can ya post another pic zoomed out a bit?

Needs to unclipped from both clips...then rotated to remove?

Looks like the steel bracket needs to be moved out of the way just slightly..

    Also:

    Intake Manifold Runner Position Sensor:

After replacing or removing and installing, the Intake Manifold Runner Position Sensor must be
readapted to the Engine Control Module using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester .

    Got VCDS?

It looks like it goes over to the motor mount (i think?) so if I undo all 3 bolts I don't think anything will lose support.

It also looks like there is another sensor that might be in the way of the 2 larger bolts that I might have to remove.

Regarding the sensor, it doesn't *look* like it twists to come out, I don't see any threads, looks like it pulls straight out to me.

Is the "Enthusiast" version sufficient do you think?
