Did not pass the inspection for Texas

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I have IE stage 1 and thought it would pass inspection for the state of Texas but sadly not.. Both O2 Sensors we marked as not ready. I had Unitronics on my S4 and to failed because it was stage 2, but I thought a stage 1 would pass but fyi no go.

There is no reason why stage 1 would mess with o2 sensors.. i'd call IE..

In the meantime, flash back to stock and see if you still have the issue

True and I thought the same but it still doesn’t change it. I will flash back to their default but it’s not stock from what I can see. Stock on the 7.5 is 420 hp but I’m sure it supposed to be 450hp for the 7.5 correct me if I’m wrong.

Check with your local dealership. The o2 sensors have an extended warranty I think. Perhaps they need to be replaced and you may get that done at no cost to you.

I went through this on my B8.5 S4. IE claims they don't mess with variables relating to emissions but then tell you to flash back to stock for the best chance to set readiness. Your O2 sensors will never set ready on any of their tunes. Just flash back to stock and readiness will set across the board in a few drives.

Sorry, if you look at the flash loader it says stock (420) Hp but the 7.5 has stock (450) Hp. And if you go to their website they don't specify the difference between the 7.0 and 7.5, this i hope won't come back to bight me in the ass.

"Readiness" is driving a certain amount of miles and drive cycles before your ECU recognizes the flashed changes. Some have to drive +50 miles and multiple ignition cycles to set readiness.

Don't know about IE and their flash loader, but you should contact them if you have concerns

Yeah, Ive had this tune on the car sense April and have not replaced the battery so I should have plenty of starts and miles on it. I'm going to just flash to stock an go back after it passes. Do you think I need to do a TCU flash back to stock as well?

I guess I should've clarified... How long you have owned the car and miles driven since being tuned, doesn't really play into readiness in this case. Once you flashed back to stock, you will need to achieve readiness by driving miles and multiple drive cycles. You can verify readiness with VCDS

While stage 1 shouldn't cause problems for an inspection, IE may be doing something specific. Rule of thumb is to revert back to stock tune and achieve readiness for an inspection (stock dp's)

Thanks, I'm learning the hard way lol. I went back to stock per Integrated Engineering response to my questions, but I cleared with VCDS all the codes and drove for about 30 minutes but that was not long enough. By the way you do NOT need to flash the TCU back to stock for what they said. This is the conversation with them.

    ME:
I am using the stage 1 tune and when I went to get the car inspected it failed, saying the the 02 sensors state was Not Ready. I assumed that it would have passed but I need one of the two sensors to be in a ready state before it can pass. I'm going to assume your going to have me flash back to stock but I have a problem with this because when I purchased this tune and saw that it was for Audi S6 2011-2018 but it doesn't have a different tune for the C7.5. Is this going to be a problem?
    Second:
Do I need to flash the TCU back to stock as well? And if so do I flash TCU then ECU please help.

    IE:
    "Hi,

Thanks for reaching out to IE.

Emissions stations typically look for a stock tune, so you will want to flash to stock.

The tune does fit the C7.5 as well. If it wasn't a fit for your car, it wouldn't have let you flash the first time.

You don't need to flash the TCU back to stock.
    Riley P

    ME:
    Thanks,
Texas doesn’t look for a tune just the 02 sensors readiness and only one needed to be ready but both were “NOT READY” status. But thanks I will flash back to stock and take care of business.

Hopefully someone else can avoid issues in the future with this.

Not surprising with only 30min driving. Typically takes people a few days to achieve readiness. One person I have seen said they drove 300 miles

The fact is I'm retired and have two Audi's to drive to the store and back which is down the street. I'm going to have to go on a Minnie trip (for me anyway) to get the all clear.

few questions: did you car pass inspection, pass readiness? where on vcds can you check? did you end up flashing back to stock, and was it your original 450 hp file?

It was something I thought would pass but unfortunately I had to flash back to stock and drive around enough to make it ready. Next year I will flash back sooner and just drive for a few days to get the ready state. As far as I can tell it was stock and it worked so I’m good. I left the TCU tune on and to be honest it feels about the same as far as the crisp acceleration but it falls flat if your getting on it.
