    B8.5 allroad Coolant Leak Wack-a-mole

Looking for advice on my 2013 Allroad with 86,000 miles. I have had numerous coolant leaks since I purchased the car a year ago. First leak was from an overflow coolant line behind the engine, then from the expansion tank. Then the water pump which I replaced myself this last weekend with a GRAF unit. The car drove 500 miles with no leaks and is now leaking again from a union on the water pump. The leak stopped dripping when I undid the coolant expansion tank cap. Before I tear into the car again I wanted to reach out for advice and see if there is any big picture items I am missing or if this is just normal on B8s? Thanks!

It seems weird that I keep fixing a leak and it is fine for a few hundred miles then it starts dripping out of a new spot.

I would certainly make sure the cap is working and venting excessive pressure or replace it. did you replace the orings on the union when you replaced it ?

I did replace the o rings on the union when I did the pump. I think I’ll pick up a new cap from Audi Seattle tomorrow to make sure I have the most recent revision. I did not replace the cap when I replaced the coolant expansion tank. Do you think that lead to problems? I’m all ears for any ideas here.

The graf pump seems to have been a headache for many: https://www.audizine.com/forum/showt...al-water-pumps

Impossible to know anything over the internet . but the cap is what controls the pressure in the cooling system.
