    Auto dimming mirror not dimming?

I had a windscreen replacement several years ago. Only recently I realised that I don't think the auto dimming is working (mostly because I never realised it existed) after getting blinded on the highway and spending a while trying to prevent it.

Is there any reason this is likely to be the case after a windscreen replacement? How does it work / how is the mirror powered?

They might have unplugged it when replacing the windshield and forgot to plug it back in. The wiring/plug is covered by a plastic piece between the mirror and the headliner. Auto-dimming mirrors work by sandwiching a layer of electrochromic material between the mirror layer and glass surface. When voltage is applied to the electrochromic layer, it changes color, dimming the mirror.

You were spot on - it wasn't plugged in properly.
